View Full Version : Potting Soil?
Hey
I have soem potting soil that I found in my friends garage. Just wondering if it would be safe to use. It doesn't say anywhere on the bag if there are fertilizers. I think it says it contains soil, peat moss and 2 other natural t hings that i can't remember. I know the last 2 are safe, but just wondering if the soil as a whole is good to use
thanks

I have personally used it in the pat with NO ill effects what so ever. Just make sure you buy one that doesn't contain Perlite.....It's the little white bead like styro in the soil.
I have used it as well with out any problems but i have read it can be harmful (I read the aricle aft i used the soil).
However, I wouldn't use an open bag, Brian is right, You can buy a 15L bag @ Zellers for $1.97 and it will cover 3" of the bottom of 50 gal aquarium (36" x 18") So it is really inexpensive. If your doing say 20 or more eclosures you can buy a cubic yard of it for $20 or so from landscape garden centers.
