View Full Version : Had a snake pass away yesterday
Unfortunately, my Rough Green snake passed away yesterday. I saw it coming, as he was looking old and like he wasn't going to make it much longer. He was a great snake, regardless of his big attitude. I'm definitely going to miss seeing him perched up in his tank watching my every move.
For now, I have no plans to fill his spot. I may just stick with my remaining two for a while. Although if something comes along that would do well in a 30g tall, who knows.

Sadly, my condolences go out to you. Any ideas as to why besides the aging factor?
Thank you. And no, I figure it must have been age. I've seen snakes die from disease, infection, etc. (through work, not personal pets) and this did not seem to be any of that. I have no idea of his actual age though. I've had him for 6+ years and he was an adult when I got him. He didn't show any signs other than slowly getting that "old" look to him.

It has been said they can live up to 15 years, but average is 6-8 years
So,so sorry! It's always hard to lose a pet... I would go out and get another one... but that's me...Maybe down the line. I'm so busy with school and work this time of year, that a new snake isn't really on the top of my list. But we'll see. That empty tank may tempt me to go get something else.
It has been said they can live up to 15 years, but average is 6-8 yearsLike I said, I had him for over six years, and he was an adult when I got him. So I'm not really sure how old he was. I've always wondered about his actual age, but there really wasn't any way for me to find out.
