Not sure if this is the right place, but I wanted to show 2 of the snake hooks I recently made. Considering shipping to Alaska is more than most snake hooks cost by themselves, figured they couldn't be too hard to make.
Materials used were (prices are approximate):
1" by 3' wooden dowel - $2.00 x 2
1" aluminum flat stock - $3.00
3/8" aluminum rod - $3.00
Grip tape $5.00
So far, they work pretty well. I actually used a roll of duct tape as a form to bend the hook portions and made sure to round off all edges as well as coat the metal with liquid rubber.
edit 1: removed photos after seeing how large they showed up here. Will resize.
