Since my dad won't go out and by some silicone to hold up some sticks he is set on using kenx which are these plastic snap together toys. I keep telling him not to because the kenx will be under the heat lamp so it could speak up heat and harm the snake. Could you tell me if my thinking is right.

I don't that the heat would burn. It shouldn't be thay hot anyway. I'd worry about the plastic possibly getting soft, warping, causing chemicals to leech into the air, ect.

Thanks I was more worried about the heat buildup over time because there is always a basking light on day and night there is only about 10 minutes a day when they are off and that is when the bulb is changed from the day to the night.

I think mink pretty much covered it. The other alternative is some kind of free standing branch structure?
I have a bit of a tree screwed on to a wooden base so it is entirely self supporting.
Can I just check-does the night bulb emit light? If so I would swap it out for a ceramic heater. All reptiles can see so called night lights-particularly blue ones-and they can be disturbed by them. Happy to fish out some notes by an expert in reptile lighting to support this...
