I was told today that I was adopting a Gray Banded Kingsnake on Sudnay then this pic arrived. I have no idea what type of king it is. Granted it is not a good pic and it appears to be in shed but I'd have to say it is no gray banded.
Thanks for your help,

It appears to indeed be a gray banded king to me.

Dont you think the gray looks a little black? I sure hope it is a gray banded but I wont know for sure until I get to my buddies place on Sunday.
My fingers are crossed,

Keep in mind the wide variability of the alterna. Some are very dark. Some are the "Blair's" (wide red/orange and gray) , some are "alterna" thin black bands w/alterneting spots and little red, and many are in- between! In fact, some collectors covet the very dark ones. Most are beauties. Some are not. He'll probably shed in a week-so take a pic then and post it. I'll bet you change your mind. p.s. some of mine are plug-ugly when in shed!

I'd have to agree with Mrk. It looks like a grayband to me too. They are pretty variable when you look at the different localities.
Bah, it's just a miserable looking snake anyways. Send it to me!! :D

lol, where I live, over the past 15 years the word has gottin out and at least once a month there is a unwanted herp that needs a home......I take in alot of them and get them to where they can be placed.

I guess you can say I am the unwanted home for herps in my area :)

But yes I would have to agree its a grey banded.......and if u dont want it I will gladly take it for ya :)

I have noticed that....I just started posting yesturday and I would have to say this is one of the nicest forum I have been one!

I run a gaming forum mmb.forumshq.com and people there are ruthless! This is kinda a nice change!

Well it's now home safe and sound. I've got it into quarantine where it will be for a while until I'm sure it is clean. It is still in shed so I did not take any new pics of it yet. Because it is still in shed I soaked it first thing when I got it home as a precautionary measure. Sure enough it defecated right away, which always makes me happy to see. Next I weighed it and measured it. It weighs 299g and is 36+ inches. I'll probe it and check it over more closely after it sheds. Not every day you get to adopt a Gray Banded Kingsnake; I'm pleased so far to say the least.
Cheers,
Trevor
