Beautiful snake! Really good looking, a bit confused as to what you mean to say it is though?! Obviously a hypo, but I don't see the rest in there?.. Costa Ricans aren't redtails, and it doesnt look like a pure Costa to me either. Rainbow is probably a name of sorts?

She has rainbow scales; like if you turn a cd and can see the colors in it, that is how she is a rainbow. And that is what I bought her as

You can even see the rainbow in some of the pictures I took

If she isn't a Costa then what is she ? Because I've been looking up pictures and that's exactly what she looks like :/

Not a costa rican. Nice though, regardless!

-You could type in "hypo costa rican boa constrictor" on google, and you'll get a variety of examples, most of which are NOT costa rican (I did this myself for giggles...), so what exactly are you using as a reference? Furthermore, it takes people many many years of practice and exposure and a rather well trained eye to be relatively accurate in regards to identifying localities...but even then an expert can be off. Something that looks identical to you, may have many differences in the eyes of someone who's "seasoned".

-Did you get lineage information, paperwork, etc? This is needed to label a boa as a specific locality...everything else would be speculation. Was she purchased from a reputable and reliable source that keeps this information accurately (direct from the breeder, a reputable reptile store)? I would be calling that one a hypo but that's it and I wouldn't put faith in it being a costa rican locality even though that's what you purchased her as.

Most snakes show some iridescence under lighting, particularly boas and a number of pythons. My central American does but she ain't no rainbow and you should take a look at some of the photos of the reticulated pythons! Again they're not designated rainbow either.

I suspect someone has conjured up a fancy name to attach a price tag to.

That though doesn't detract from the fact it's a nice looking snake.

She's not Costa Rican for the simple fact that Costa Rican boas do not have a hypo morph. At most, she's a Costa Rican cross, but she cannot be pure.

Hopefully you did not pay too much for her, otherwise the breeder has ripped you off with a fancy-sounding name. Most single gene hypos go for under $200 nowadays. Unless the hypo baby was from a polygenic breeding project and has lineages from a pastel line (and the breeder can provide proof), then I personally wouldn't pay more than maybe $150 or $175 at the most for a regular hypo boa.

Regardless of the mistakes on the breeder's part, you still have a gorgeous new one, and I'm sure you'll enjoy her regardless. :)
