I just got back from a 24 hour Seattle overnight. Despite it being 46 degrees and cloudy when I landed, I rented a car and headed out. You never know unless you go! Good times!!

You were up to your ears in garters. There was quite a bit of color variations going on there. Glad you had such a productive day.

Yeah, more than I've ever seen before. I probably saw 30 or more. If I hadn't taken the time to video, I would have seen more. Crazy. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.

Another brilliant video Lou I'm from Ireland so I don't get to see any kind of snakes at all in the wild. Thanks for posting and keep them coming :)

Thanks Dave. I think I'll be in Europe next summer. Further south. Hungary - Italy. No real exact plans, but I'm hoping to find something.
Thanks for watching.

Thanks Lou for the great work you do culminating into these entertaining vids. The yellow striped phase pugets were amazing.

I think they are like most snakes in the US, and go underground for the winter. While they don't burrow, they take advantage of other animals that do or find natural cracks in the ground. Even the snakes in southern California where I live "brumate" for the winter. I won't see king snakes from November until late February on a typical year. I place cover boards over holes and natural cracks in the ground, giving those boards a high rate of success over boards just placed randomly.
I'm sure I walked by plenty of snakes that just didn't move.
Thanks for watching.
