Hello everyone.

So i got 2 corn snakes (i think albino) given to me.

1st-white 2yrs old, tank, hollow tree, fake rock, water dish. All included. I added some fake moss with water and a temp/humidity gauge to keep track.
2nd- pinkish orage with some white blotches, 3years old. Same things in this ones tank with the addition to a long bendable tree like branch.

Both tanks are sitting around 70°-75°F, and about 50%-70% humidity.
The bigger tank (with the 2nd cornie) keep temp and humidity fine, i stopped checking (too an extent)
The 1st tank however, i check them both between light on/off intervals. Has been dropping a lot lower in humidity, around the 40 mark which says "desert" rather then "rain forrest"... im a little concerned and confused and what to do to help increase the humidity.

Now the 1st tank is smaller so the heat lamp is closer to the gauge and moss.. would this be my problem? How do i resolves that.

I just read a post on here about shedding so i checked the 2nd one right away cause he just finished a shed about 6days ago.. sure enough, tag stuck on the tip of his tail, about 1/2". I ran and got a tought approx 5gal. And filled it about 1" with warm water.
He didnt wanna stay in it. So i just dropped his lower half in and let him crawl threw.my hand.. within 5 minutes i had rolled the skin off his tail by running my fingers over it from the head to tail direction.
The post was closed so i thank that person now! :)

Other then my above mentioned, are there any other guides to keeping a happy and comfortable snack .

Thanks everyone :) once I figure out how to pop some pictures on here i will :)

Welcome from another newbie here. My daughter just got our first ever corn a couple weeks ago and we have not dealt with a shed yet, but hoping it clears up a rough spot he has that I've been keeping an eye on. We've soaked him daily for the first week with betadine tea and it is not a retained shed so hoping a shed or 2 clears it up. So far we are enjoying him, he's eaten well and I enjoy the ease of husbandry for these guys. His clear eyes are a little freaky. Lol I'd love to see pictures when you can post some.

Welcome to ssnakess! Great to have you join us. Some pictures would help determine the morph of your cornsnakes, you can post pictures after a few posts on the forum. Are you using an analog hygrometer? These can be terribly inaccurate, I'd advise a digital one if you don't already use one. :D also are the tanks screen tops?

A slight comment on the bath you gave your snake, I don't know what temperature it was but it should never be warm. They can not sweat, and you force their body to become very hot. They will be uncomfortable and overheat, this could partially be why he did not want to stay in (or he just doesn't like it, which is a fair possibility as well) The water should be lukewarm at most, not too much above room temperature. We are warm-blooded creatures, and the proper cold blooded bath temperature would be almost cool to the touch for us. Just imagen your whole body immediatly turning the temperature of your bath/shower water, instant fever. Unpleasant :)

Welcome to the forum!

With most retained sheds, it's actually more effective and also less stressful to dampen a cloth with room temperature water and have them crawl through it. Works quicker and they don't get stressed out like they do with the forced baths.

Those temps you mentioned are fine for the cool end/ambient, but what are the temps of the basking spot/hot side? Also, it sounds like you're using the stock on hygrometers which as previously mentioned are not accurate. Look into spending a couple bucks on a digital hygrometer/thermometer as well as a temp gun. Very useful tools to have and quite inexpensive.

SOUNDS like a blizzard corn and a snow but we would love to see pics!
