View Full Version : Blocking off a CHE

So I just got my new enclosure (pics once it's all set up) and I'm going to be switching to using a ceramic heat emitter instead of a UTH due to the bottom panel of the new enclosure being quite thick. Anyway, the cage I just got has a socket on the interior side of the top panel for the UTH and even though I plan on using a means of temperature control for the CHE I do not want to leave it exposed. Is there a way to get a wire cage to block off any direct contact? I was thinking about just bending chicken wire into the desired form and attaching it in a dome shape around the CHE but to do that I would need to use some sort of adhesive I think. Which then raises the problem of the wire structure being somewhat permanent and if I need to swap out the CHE it would be a pain.

Any input is appreciated!

Not my picture, but I have done things like this with chicken wire thin enough so the snake can't crawl in. As well as making sure it is offset enough so that they dont attempt to hang out on it and risk a burn.

We're lucky in the UK that cages are readily available. I've no idea why they're not your side of the pond.

They are available to you from ebay etc but shipping may be a little pricey. Super bits of kit though...

That looks perfect. How is it that it's fixed to the cage? It almost looks like there was a prexisting place to attach it

Agreed. Never purchased one myself, but shipping would most likely be more than the cage itself. I run a small home business and purchase some materials from China and the shipping to get it here is insane. Still cheaper to go that route but holy cow!
