I'm so glad to have finally found an online community of like-minded snake people! (Not sneeple, I just mean people who are into snakes

I've always loved snakes. I used to catch garter snakes every summer since I was three! I would put them in those plastic critter keepers with some leaves and grass, then let them go in a day or so after admiring and playing with them. They were so pretty, and so cool, and I loved to feel them move through my hands. I didn't even mind the nasty garter snake musk, (although I was pleased to later learn that not all snakes have that smelly defense mechanism.)

Fast-forward several years. I'm a young lady now. Still way into snakes. Surprisingly, I have only ever had one snake, and I only got her last year! In fact, bringing her home was the most rebellious-teenage thing I've ever done, because I didn't have permission to get a snake at the time. But (somehow) it all worked out in the end, and I love love LOVE my sweet noodle baby!

Speaking of my snake... She is a kenyan sand boa, supposedly about 4 years old now, I got her April of 2015 when her previous owner needed to move to Alaska and couldn't take her. I named her Shai-Hulud, after the sand worm from Dune (sand boa, sand worm, close enough), but I just call her Shai. She is the chillest snake I've ever met. And she is so cute! And so pretty! And I LOVE her and I so badly needed to find other people who feel the same way that I do about their snakes! And now I have!

So, hello! Let's talk about snakes already!

**I would like to note, I don't condone getting a pet on impulse, especially not a reptile because of their specific care requirements. Nor would I generally advise anyone still living with their parents to sneak a reptile into their home without permission. It was reckless of me and could have ended very badly! The fact that it worked out so well is nothing short of a miracle! But seriously, don't do what I did. It won't end well.

Welcome to the forum! I am very new here myself and will be getting my first snake here soon. It was a toss up between a Kenyan Sand Boa and a Western Hognose. The hoggie won in the end because I'm just more taken with them haha. My girl will be here soon. Anyway, welcome again and can't wait to see pics!
