My ball python, Twister has a cut on his under belly that looks like it's between the scales. I can kind of see the pinkish skin underneath the scale. I switched his substrate to paper towels (he had cypress mulch before) and put some neosporin on the wound. I'm not sure how he cut himself, my fiance thinks he might have rubbed his scale backward and it caught on something.

Does this look like a cut or something more serious? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm paranoid.

Also his whole underbelly is a tinted pink color, not blotchy, just pink, I'm guessing he's about to go into shed as well.

dear mystic, sorry this happened. i think your fiance might be right. do you have those hides that look like logs? i always check mine because they do have rough spots. the neosporin is what i would suggest. if it doesn't improve a trip to the vet might be a good idea. hope twister gets better fast!

When using neosporin be sure NOT to use the kind with pain reliever in it. I would move him into something else till you figure out how he got cut. Had this happen once with a snake i had in a tote. Ran my bare hand around till i found a sharp edge along the side and cut it off then sand it smooth.

Thanks guys, I checked the hides and the tank itself, I can't find anything sharp, my guess is it was a sharp wood chip. Don't worry, I didn't use any pain relief neosporin.
