Well I don't have her yet but the breeder is holding one for me.

Went to the reptile show today and knew these guys would be there. Spoke to the breeder on FB yesterday and he said to come and have a chat.

He did have some but they're not yet fully established on f/t and I don't have access to live prey so I reluctantly left empty handed.

However got in touch with the guy this evening and he'll bring me an established one to the show in November.

Very unusual snake to find-particularly CB. Also know as the Solomon Islands ground Boa (not to be confused with the C. aspera-the viper boa-but pretty similar).

Will try and dig a breeder shot out if I can find it. Very excited to be getting one-fascinating animals.

Breeder pic but does not give any clue as to how small these guys are at the moment.

Saw these, spoke to the bloke etc... Seemed nice enough and obviously cared enough to question me on my capabilities. Not my cup of tea personally but they are a unique and fascinating species all the same!

Good luck when you do pick one up, I'll have to hang around at the next show n catch you for a coffee at the bar. (Currently unable to drink lmao)

I received a pair of Candoia paulsoni tasmai, Halamahera Island ground boas, a couple months ago. Very docile snakes, sort of like dwarf ball pythons as far as their general lack of activity when picked up and handled. Both eat live small mice w/out any problems, actually have a great feeding response, the only time I've seen either one move quickly, lol.
They're set up in plastic tubs with cypress mulch to maintain high humidity, and seem to be dong very well so far. Both have shed once not long after they arrived, and I believe their lack of interest in eating earlier today indicates they're going to shed again soon.
I usually find them either in a ceramic cave or soaking in the water bowl, though the male does sometimes hang out on the shelf for a couple days at a time.

Yeah nice kids weren't they - very impressed that he actually pretty much refused to sell me one there and then due to the work they needed. Pretty much unheard of at Donnie that!

His friend was the breeder of the L. mackloti that I've been pondering and I very very nearly bought one! He also had a large male olive python with him that looked a lovely snake.

Definitely try and catch up at the next one (November I think) and hopefully I'll be picking the snake up then

Have you posted photos yet of these? If you have I'll look them up - if you haven't get on with it already!

Chatting to the breeder he said that whilst they take live prey fine moving them to f/t pretty much requires assisted feeding in all cases otherwise they just show no interest.

There's an interesting write-up on his website - psbreptiles.com - well worth a read as this kid has a good few years experience with C. paulsoni.

Well I've heard from the breeder and he has a girl on FT mice all ready for me to pick up at the next reptile show on 6 November. Gives me a couple of weeks to work on the wife!

Photos will of course be posted at the earliest.

Well I am getting her a watch with diamonds for the 3 6 9 and 12 positions, probably a diamond bracelet and a dog so hopefully that'll placate her.

Plus the C. paulsoni will only be tiny to begin with so she can't complain about it taking up a ton of space.

I just hope the house we've got our eye on comes off as that's got a massive garage that I'd convert into a snake room/ham shack.

Great pickup dan! Sounds like a cool species. Looking forward to the pics. Good luck on the house too.

Thanks both. There's a few things that need to land into place-not least my mums estates still isn't sorted but hopefully just a couple more weeks. Then snake and house shopping begins properly.

And maybe not a mainland Dave but an SD I don't think would be unreasonable!

Every time I see a post that your getting a new snake I keep thinking it's an SD retic :D

So Sunday is the day. Can't wait! Just cleared it with the wife (I use the word cleared loosely, more grudging ****ed off acceptance that she's married an idiot) so all good to go :).

Very excited.

Thanks guys. No I can't wait although I am in two minds about the ethics of a show like Doncaster.

I wouldn't buy an animal from a breeder I hadn't been in touch in some way with before the show I don't think and whilst there are some excellent animals for sale there's also flippers and chancers given a platform to sell half dead creatures to unsuspecting folk.
