It is true that vindictive personal agendas can cause real problems. But just to play Devil's Advocate for a moment ( i try to look at everything), in certain cases I feel that information that someone gave in another venue, particularly false or malicious info, should be brought to light.

Being a Hot Keeper, if on another one of my forums someone said "Venomoids are bad, I would never own one!", then came here and posted pics of thier 3 new venomoids, I would call them on it, "Didn't you just say on www.thisotherforum.com that you would never have one?". Just like if there is someone giving advice on curing RI that i KNOW has never dealt with or maybe doesnt even owne snakes (just throwing out random examples), the i would publicly question them. Or if someone screwed over 50 people on snakes then publicly wants to sell to amember, i would want to know.

I think that in certain cases, bringing information about someone from any venue may have its advantages.

I understand where you are coming from on this aswell, but my main concern is that there are people whose sole purpose of using the forums in this community is to bring someone else down. Husbandry debates are more then welcome here and our member appreciate a good debate and the majority can handle conflicting interests very well! :) I just dont want people using these forums as a place to seek "revenge" or further there fights that they had on other forums.

Again, playing Devil's Advocate (I must have a subscription:D ) your terms of service read as follows:
By clicking the Agree button, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.
OK, let's see. Obsene: not that I have seen. Vulgar:again, not that I have seen. Sexually orented: No such luck and a little disturbing ;) Hateful:I think this one is the key. THis is a very broad and ambiguous term open to interpetation. If I said, "Jeff, your avatar sucks" it could be termed hateful, but it is also an opinion. If I said "Matt, it is not right for you to get a mamba! You don't have the experience! That thing will Kill you! It is fast intelligent and deadly! It doesnt even have to open it's mouth to kill you!" That could also be considered hateful. (fun to use admins as examples :p ) If I said "Dom, 30 people gave you reasons not to get that Nile Croc! Now your hand got bit off, what did you expect?!?!" That could be hateful. But sometimes people need a slap in the face to wake up. The problem is that once something is said ANYWHERE, it is said forever. And bad things tend to follow you around or just wait for you everywhere :)

Moving along. I do not think it is right to "chase people" for the sake of chasing them. But at the same time, by chasing the chasers, doesn't that bring one down to their level? And if the chasers (not to be confused witht he chaser chasers) bring solid info, whether the chased wanted it out or not, I do not see a problem. When it gets into a flame, it is.

Flipping the coin again. It is the admins' resposibility to mantain order, so if there are destructive posts, it is ya'lls realm. But the hard part about being an admin is keeping order while allowing free speach and free trade of information.

Just to add a final note (cause it's bed time). This is also in the TOS:
The owners of www.sSnakeSs.com have the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.
This is pretty self explanitory. Just a random thought that this sentence makes me think of: Just because you CAN do something does not mean you SHOULD. Take that sentence as you will. I am not condemning anyone or condoning anything. I just love a good debate :D

BTW: My examples were just that. The issues have not come up. Easiest to use Admins' names ;)

Well to sum it all up for you... What we deem to be negative to the site or to our members will be removed. If we feel it is borderline or someone is unsure of it then it is voted on by the moderation team and dealt with as we see fit. The reason you havent seen any of the things you stated in the beginning of the post is because we wont stand to allow it to surface and when it does it is delt with immediatly because our community members, staff and owners dont want it here. We have gone this long problem free and eliminating problems when they start, but as we get bigger it makes it harder, but rest assure we will continue to keep the forums clean and problem free.

The answer to this one is simple, we have handled our issues with our members on a personal level since the beginning and it will continue to be this way, any long term member will tell you the way we handle the problematic individuals has been fine thus far and we have no plans on changing it. The member base will change but our tolerance level wont.

Since I am assuming most likely correctly that this post is aimed at myself and others, then let me point out some of the finer details for everyone to see.

My join date - Registered: 11-18-02

To be verified here, on this LINK (http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=989)

Snakemann87s join date - Registered: 02-06-03

To be verified with this LINK (http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=1431)

This should clearly show to anyone that I did not follow snakemann87 from another forum, but instead have been a member here nearly three months PRIOR to the snakemanns appearance on this site.

Facts are facts.

Many of my posts may not be the sugary sweet lack of substance that has been displayed numerous times in the past.
But they are full of facts and are intended to teach everyone about the pets that they so enjoy.
If some one has posted things that are obviously flawed in their husbandry, I am going to let them know.

If they do something then try to backtrack later, I will let them see what the discrepencies in their post are.

Maybe they and others will learn from this more, instead of merely posting 'Cool' Nice' 'Sweet' etc.

Apparently other members here do agree with some of the things I have stated in an effort to teach.
It is visible in their posts preceding my own posts in the threads.

Since it is obvious that I did in fact join months preceding some others, so how is it then thought that I CHASED them from other forums?

I bring good and thoughtful posts in order to teach others.

Is that bad?
I hope not, because I certainly don't want to be limited to saying 'cool' and 'sweet' everytime someone posts like many others do.
I just don't post that often.
When I do it is for the benefit of all that are willing to learn.
I feel it is best to post thoughtfully and with depth and facts than to post frivilously with meaningless filler material.

(If I wanted meaningless filler, I would watch Seinfeld re-runs)

This site has a LOT of potential and a LOT of growing to do yet.
There will be even more thought provoking members in the future, not just The_Omen.
They will add charisma to the forums that will help the site grow and others to learn more about the pets we so willingly love and cherish.

just to clear it up for you Jack, this post was not directed towards you. There are a number of members that have signed up in the last 3-8 days with the sole intent to get on the back of one of the members. Sorry if you took offence to Jeff's posts, but i was talking to him while he wrote it, and i can honestly say, this was NOT directed towards you..

Jeff, I truly admire your patience in dealing with all this nonsense. I would have found a "DELETE" key a long time ago and solved the problem. Maybe a "one complaint: warning, two complaints: boot" system is in order here. I think you're plenty busy enough running this site without handing out band aids all the time.

Tightsqueeze, good point... If you have something against someone then air it out in 1 post, dont continually harass the person everywhere he posts.

Omen, it wasnt directed towards you and i didnt mean for this post to make people feel singled out, i just want it to stop and the people who are doing it arent listening to PM's from our moderators so if they continue and find themsleves banned then they will know why and i wont have to explain myself again. Prego?!?! haha!! well i guess it sounds a little better then Ragoo!! :p

5000, rebuttling or debating over his husbandry is fine, but replying in every thread he makes for the sole intention of putting him down is not.

Scotty, thanks man! :)

I also agree with Scotty Jeff you have done a great job and I love the site. I think that some of the comments on this site are very negative. If you think that someone is doing something wrong you can tell them that in a possitive way and not a negative bash on the person. People need to remember that some of the people on this site are young and this is there first reptile and they may not know and that is what someone at a petstore or they read on a bad internet site. Advise is great bashing is terrible.
