View Full Version : Watched My Cribo Shed
I was able to watch my Yellow Tail Cribo shed from start to finish tonight. I knew she was due to shed so luck was on my side. I heard some rustling around in her enclosure so I got out the small flashlight. I caught her just popping off the eyecaps. The whole process took maybe 2 minutes. Couldn't believe it was over that quickly.
I compared this shed to her last one and its 8" longer. She did some growing in the past 6 weeks. I have changed up her diet sincere to last shed to include rats and chicks.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pics of the shedding. I thought about taking a few pics, but I didn't want to disturb her more than I already was. I'm cleaning her enclosure today so I'll get some fresh skin pics of her for sure.

real interesting experience. i would have loved to see that eye caps part.
Pic as promised. She was in some mood today. I'm sure due to being hungry since she didn't eat in 10 days. She calmed down a lot once in the bucket with the lid on for a few minutes. I put her in there while I cleaned her enclosure.
Doesn't look it from the pic, but she's almost 5' long now. She's put on more girth than length since I have had her.

Thanks PR! I'd like to breed her. Looking for a nice CB male. She should be up to breeding size by next year. She was a 2014 hatch.

She's always on edge a bit and very aware of movement. Her feeding response is insane and like no other snake I've experienced before. Sometimes she's a little less grumpy, but once out of her enclosure she's is ok. Never sits still and is always on the move, but doesn't try to kill me. I've only been tagged once by her while handling.

They're not overly colorful, but I was drawn to them for the size and attitude. I'm a sucker for colubrids and like the idea of the ones who get large...7' plus.

How cool! They're so beautiful, this is one colubrid I would definitely keep. I love these, I'm a bit jealous!
