Gorgeous!

Have you ever invited someone over (who didn't know about your snakes) and just let them walk in to find one of your pretty giants? I bet the reaction would be something else. Kinda mean I suppose, but funny nonetheless.

These come in dwarf Mink ;) and the last ones we had in the shop were very calm and easy to handle. It seems these are calming down the more they're bred in captivity much the way the retics were when they first came into the hobby

Thank you and before we got Jenny our retics new viv built, we had all the viv stacked behind a wall. There was people who came to our house for dinner and never knew that the snakes were there. But then again there was times when someone would walk down to the patio doors and that ment they saw three large vivs and what was inside them, which did make a few people slightly nervous :)

Thanks mate and I know you're only joking but having one of our snakes escape is something that we've tried to cut right down to zero by taking an awful lot of precautions. I think every large snake keeper nightmare is a snake that makes it outdoors, this doesn't even bare thinking about and it's why we triple check the windows in the living room before we go out or go to bed. As for having to search for them you just follow the trail of destruction :D Daisy can easily move our 3 seater sofa when she goes behind it :D

Yes I can imagine one of your not so little babies making it to the outside world is a bad thing. I think even 6-8' ft boa would be called a "giant snake" and be all over the news. A true giant would be something else entirely. It's really amazing to think that just her exploring can move a 3 seater couch some adults have trouble doing intentionally and she isn't even trying to use her true strength.

Would be double as bad because last time I was in the UK it wasn't exactly reptile weather most of the year lol

We've have people come into the shop now and again with corn and King snakes they've found lol. The last corn that was found made it onto the local news channel, but they didn't make a big fuss over it. It ended up in the shop they came down and done an interview with my mate who owns the place, the reporter and cameramans face was an absolute picture when he took the burm out of the viv and tried to put it round their shoulders they were both fighting to get out of the doors and swearing like sailors. I haven't looked at that polite young man on the TV from that day since :D sorry mate I'm rambling here :) yeah a burm or retic escaping over here would cause bedlam :(

But your right about the weather it sucks in N.Ireland, it's dry for about 3 weeks of the year if you're lucky and rest of the time it rains :D

There have been articles here about "giant" snakes escaping that were really around 8ft. Not much of any giant breeders in Canada so much smaller market a true giant would be something else.

Yeah my mum is from England, 3 week vacation, 2 weeks of rain. As a kid I used to think it would mess with you on purpose. Go outside to play and it starts raining, go back in 10minutes later it stops. Then you go back out and it starts again. It's usually wet every time I go but that's just how it is.

There aren't that many people keeping giants here in N.Ireland either I know of only a handful of us that have them but they are becoming more popular. The shop I help out at has started selling retics but we turn more people away from selling mainlands to or guide them towards the dwarfs or super dwarfs. Usually getting the 12ft burm out we have in the shop and seeing how they react is a good indicator of what they can handle. And if you think England is bad for weather it's like the Sahara compered to N.Ireland :D

It's always refreshing to hear about stores that will turn people away instead of selling an animal you know the person can't care for. It's a rare thing as most just go for the sale.

Have you evolved to have gills or fins yet? lol

I agree I live alone so a giant wouldn't be a good idea for myself. I also don't feel I'd be comfortable owning such a large snake either. But I do really enjoy the pictures of your giants. And for someone who comments on them destroying your house in every picture it looks spotlessly clean ;)

We're always turning people away lol plus for beginners we sell everything with different reptiles which we call plug and play. We build the vivs put in all the fittings lights set the thermostats and hand out caresheets, plus we've found because all the animals are well cared for the vivs are clean that everyone we sell to comes back for their live feeders or their frozen food. Plus and I'm not bragging here but the shop is kept immaculate and does look amazing, I mean how many reptile shops do you walk into and you can't see a viv just these glass windows in a wall with animals behind them ;)

And didn't you know that us Northern Irish are amphibians lol

And Daisy isn't the house wrecker burms like to stay on the floor, it's when Jenny comes out things start going wrong that vase in the photo is usually the first to get it :D

I've been in a lot of pet stores and yes you're right most aren't very good for reptiles. What is worse is usually the staff are worse then the cages. No glass walls that's for sure. But I have been in stores with vivs for each herp that are well done. Not a common thing though.

I guess my grandparents are from the south. I'm missing that gene lol

That must be one of hell of a vase or the pottery store loves you buying the same thing every 2 weeks. Keep the pics coming mate. If you can take some video, would be cool to see how your giants roam around. I didn't truly appreciate how big they get until I saw them in person at a reptile zoo. Pictures often make them look smaller, you don't get a true scale of size.

Maybe it's because we only sell reptiles and spiders and the likes that we seem to be getting it right and here's a photo to show you what I mean about the vivs, although most of them were empty as we let the stock run down coming up to the Hamm show for all the new animals being brought back

My mums side grandparents are from Ireland but don't know north or south. My only time in Irleand was a layover on the runway at night in the rain so couldn't see anything.

If any giant ever got out here all hell would break loose, I can still remember the "giant snake on the loose" horror stories from a few years ago. It was just an adult ballpython. I don't want to know the headline if a real giant is missing ... Also if Xena ever got out, my house would be destroyed top to bottom and she's not nearly as Large as Daisy.. She enjoys wrecking things, it's a retic thing.. If you ever need a Snake sitter you could also just cross the puddle and hand her over :D no guarantee I won't misplace her and leave you empty handed later! But I won't charge anything.. so .. tempted yet?
