Here's a topic just for Kira (Seleyar Island Reticulated python), it was sunny outside and his pictures inside always look off, so i took him out for a few pictures and a quick video. He was amazing as always, this shows a bit better what he really looks like. Love this snake a lot!

Retics are so beautiful! I'll never own one due to their size, so it's nice to be able to live vicariously through these pics. Very cool. :)

Thanks Andy, and there are always Superdwarves! This guy is a dwarf.

I'll just call him a Selayar Island then :p but yeah he is a wild-type / normal. Thanks Dave!!

You should, they're an amazingly rewarding species to own.

He is an estimated 13/14ft long but haven't measured him (head and tail would still easily touch the ground if I lift him above my head though), he is 8 years old, thanks:D

Such vibrant colors! Makes me excited to see River as an adult. :) Getting him back was a good stroke of luck. ;)

Yes it was! Im happy to have him for so many reasons, nothing as great as an animal you raised yourself :D he reminds me of the old 'gang' as well. I do miss them, but I'm glad I restarted.

Also, I'm excited to see river as an adult too!

Awesome snake, you say 13-14' and he's a dwarf? That seems a bit large for my concept of a dwarf, lol. I agree that it's most satisfying to raise them yourself.

He's a pure F1 Selayar dwarf, they're on the larger end of the dwarf scale, and he was one of the largest from the nest :) Just shows that even pure dwarfs shouldn't be underestimated.

Kira had his first ever chicken! It took him about 30 minutes to find the head and start eating, he stuck his head under the feathers and bit down repeatedly before he started actually eating it. Wings are very confusing things!.. The 2nd one went down a lot quicker though. :D Here's some pictures!

Chicken snacks, lol, more feathers than meat. Did they leave a visible bulge?

Tsubaki
09-07-16, 01:04 AM
Yes they did, not a very impressive one though. And he got 2 because one was just too disappointing, it was better than nothing. Thx for looking!

The iridescence on Kira is unreal :), looks like he enjoyed his KFC :D

Tsubaki

Yes he is very shiny, even when it's been a while since he shed last. :D thx Dave

Lovely. Yes, people I think don't always appreciate what dwarf means when it comes to the giants! Keep the pics coming-I'll never tire of looking at them.

Tsubaki
09-07-16, 11:35 AM
No they don't haha, dwarves still get quite impressive :D

Kira is looking good as always Tsu. His next poop may be a little runny from the chicks. If I feed my critters a chick I usually offer them a rodent with it for fiber. :)

Tsubaki

I have fed chickens before, just not to this guy.. I'm already expecting the Niagara-poop-falls to come.. :D I'll manage! Thanks!!!

I should say as well I am always surprised by the iridescence on a retic. Really quite something...

The gross poops are the main reason I haven't tried any fowl with my snakes yet. lol

In that second picture Kira looks confused as to why he's getting this puny meal when he could have a rabbit or some rats. haha Retics' appetites are definitely something else.

Tsubaki
09-07-16, 09:03 PM
Yes they are are :D he found the whole chicken thing a bit weird, I hope I can get rabbits soon.. The chickens aren't bad but they are more expensive!
