Hey what's up my is Joey I'm here for the love I have for retics I've kept many in my but reptiles in my life but as I've gotten into giants they intrigue me how smart they are compared to many other snakes. I know a lot of people see what I see and love them as much as me

Welcome. Not a ton of giant keepers around here nice to see more. They really are insanley more aware than other snakes, almost monitor like. Its even crazier in pure jampea.... those things dont miss a beat. Do yours really not eat in shed?

Really, all mine take food when ever. Even my male bali thats picky about what he eats.

Ez, youre not kidding about the teeth. But thats why you get a pure super dwarf.lol

Mine isn't the slightest bit picky about what he eats so far...goes between rats and chicks no problem but just doesn't eat in shed. Been that way since the first week I got him....

Ziggy, you just gotta get an SD ;)

When they were hatchlings they would eat in shed until about 4 months old I've had them since September of last year my tiger is 7 1/2 maybe 8 after she sheds she jumps on anything and I use too feed my platinum and albino chicks and baby ducks when they were small and they would always get diarrhea. I'm happy and it's easier now that everyone is on rabbits

I just feed rabbits as it's the biggest prey items I can get for the size Jenny is. And i also think Ziggy should get an SD ;)

If only she was mine mate, she's one of many I get to clean out on a Saturday at my mates reptile shop. Although I'm off work this week so I'll probably be down a few days ;)

Beautiful retics in this topic, they're amazing snakes.
Just wanted to point out as well, i have 2 retics that also refuse to eat during a shed. (grab and constrict but won't eat, will eat like crazy again after shed)

Really.... hmmm. This seems to be pretty common here. Mine and most people local to me share the same experience of eating regardless of shed cycle. Weird

I've never tried to feed Jenny while she's in shed, it's just something I've always did to give her digestive system a break

I never try to feed mine in shed also. Its usually 2 weeks for me when in shed while they get dull eyes get cloudy they clear on up any day after that that's when they are letting me know its time to eat start looking for food love retic

I don't think there's a right or wrong when it comes to feeding in shed. Personally I don't feed my boa when she's in shed as she tends to hide shop don't like to disturb her or entice her out.

It certainly doesn't do them any harm either way though.

I agree Danny everyone has a different way of doing things it doesn't mean that one person is wrong and the other is right :)

Same, but i'm fairly good at missing the start of their shedding haha. I've missed the purple's blue eyes a couple of times.. The genetic stripe also doesn't eat in shed but i've only missed his blue eyes once so far.

:D did the G stripe let you have the food back easily or did he fight you for it

He will grab it, constrict it and then just lie on top of it without eating it.. Trying to get it back with tongs results in him repeating said process... So i have to move him away from the food first.. I keep a very close eye on potential sheds for him now because that was a pain in the nether-regions to do :D

The reason I asked was we tried Jenny with a jumbo rat after months of her being on rabbits and she was using it as a pillow :D. But trying to get it back of her was a bit of a task

Its difficult for me to know when my albino is in shed i cant really tell neither. Im preety happy tonight she has not ate in a month 1/2 and tonight around 530am she took the rat that i bought earlier its a 1 pound rat i realized wright after she ate her last meal she had a respiratory infection i turnt up the heat and humidity and it did the trick. I thought ill post my female tiger het she is a sweet heart she just ate a 4# rabbit yesterday and wanted to eat the other ones rat. Thats one thing they love their rats

We have the 1 retic and the 2 burms, we'd have more retic's in a heartbeat but sadly we've no more room. Those lavenders het GS will be a nice breeding project for you ;)
