Awhile ago I began finding my piebald male's urate had turned green in his enclosure. I thought maybe it was mold so I thoroughly cleaned his container. Yesterday I again found more green urate. There does not seem to be a whole lot of information online about this. He otherwise seems healthy and alert. He has been a picky eater since I got him, but has eaten consistently the last few weeks. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

While it appears alarming , it actually is a normal occurrence where frank bile is released and expressed in the urates. Sometimes it's a small amount of bile where the color will be a very light green and other times it's a moderate amount of bile causing a darker green color. Bile is stored in the gall bladder and is secreted by the liver and functions as a aid in digestion.
