View Full Version : Bored old man!
Hi guy's... Newbie here! About 6 months ago I decided to cure my boredom by buying snakes Ya da ya da I now have a year and half old Purple albino retic, that's is only about 4 and half or 5 feet now and I am trying to keep him small.... He is way cool, mellow yellow to the max. His name is George!
Then there is my Jungle carpet python... He's my work in process snake... He's about 2 feet now, just barely year old now... He went missing for a month to the day a little while back; and he is very nippy but were working on that. I just got him eating again with the paper bag trick...
Lastly is my 7 year old, 5 foot 2' Taiwanese beauty snake... He is quite the handful until he calms down...
I don't seem to have any problems right now; I was just looking for a good snake forum... I am sure I will have questions down the road...So thanks in advance... Noel Pics to come!

Welcome to the addiction, lol. Upload the video to YouTube then include a link in your forum post.
Thanks toddnbecka... I'll have to get my wife to work on it tomorrow; although I am a little embarrassed... All 3 of my snakes are in glass tanks... I am new at this and the ultimate goal is appropriate cages but for now glass is going to have to work... They look healthy and happy... If you can really tell if their happy... Don't know... I'll see what I can put up tomorrow... Thanks again!

For your glass tanks, put some deco around the out side and this well help the snakes to chill out, it will give them the enclosed feeling.

I could do that but I don't know if it is necessary... Almost all the sides face a wall or a closet door or a book case... My tanks are nice and snug were they are... and all my snakes seem to regulate their own body heat. They are in our second bedroom were there is no active besides me tending to their every need. They really can't see each other the way I have it set up.
IF anything my JCP is a little out of his element! I think his tank might be too big... but then again I don't know how you can maintain 3 different temperatures; give him two hiding places, and a perch, and all of it in anything smaller then a 20 gal tank... but that's why I join this forum, to pick some brains... Thank you for this...

Some people say it stresses them out in a tank to big, however I have not had that with my new young ones
2 Royals 1Corn 1 Boa and a mad Cat.f you put lots of hides.
Well I am still working on the picture thing... I decided to go with a few snap shots over the video for now... I no soon got done taking the pictures and Fred my Taiwanese beauty took a big dump! His second BM in a week... No problems at this end... :D
I went right into clean up mode... He bit me last time I tried to spot clean his cage, so I pull him out to clean. I should probably point out I have only had him for 7 days now... He is quite the handful... We are just getting to know each other... Put him in a holding tub until I got his cage cleaned up good. His piece of wood reeks of a cage that hadn't been cleaned in a while... Not to mention the strong musk smell, So I give it a Dawn soap bath... Then after cleaning the tub out real good a fresh water bath for Fred... I don't think he was getting the attention he needs... He will start to relax after a few minutes of holding him and he realizes I am not going to hurt him... fun fun fun... :tired1_2:

Very nice mate although I have to admit that your boy George is my favourite he's a good looking boy ;).
Yea George is my favorite also... He has the best personality of the three too... Yep... I have been contemplating my next cage move and what I have to sell to finance it. George is doing really, really well right now so I don't want to rock the boat, but I know a cage change is coming soon... I don't know whether to move Fred up to a more arboreal appropriate cage and give his 60 gal tank to George, or just move George to his finale cage.

That's a diverse and impressive collection there satt. If you add some climbing vines and branches to your carpet's enclosure you'll see some pretty cool behavior. The way they move, perch, and hunt in trees is amazing.
Ralph use to like to hang out in his bush {That is suction cupped to the back wall, in the middle, off the floor}, but that last few days he has been coiled up in ether hot side or cool side in the corners and not even hiding at all... I have been holding him a lot lately trying to get him past this nippy stage... I don't really know if that has anything to do with his change in behavior... but yea! more bushes is a good idea!
