Sometimes you don't plan to have more than 1 snake. Sometimes a new girlfriend moves to you with her two snakes and so you're having 3 of them. Then with each passing month you're getting more and more animals because "honey, we really need them in our lives" and you need to keep them somewhere, so you're buying new tanks. And out of nowhere a room that before was your computer room is now having a second comp table (that of said girlfriend) and 12 tanks in it. And it's no longer computer room, but REPTILE ROOM!
You just wanted to have a one snake and one girlfriend...

That's what happened to my man, and here are some quick pics of our room! Sorry for mess in some places, I'll do a nice, clean pics in a few days as I'm sick at the moment :( And I'll post a better pics of each single viv too!
The whole process taked us 2 years, it just kinda happened without planning, haha!

Hahaha, you know, some men would love to have it that way! :D
We are looking to buy a big house and already know that we'll do a comp-reptile room in there! But it'll be a lot better as we'll start with that project in mind, not just randomly add new enclosures, haha!

I'm at 4 snakes 0 girlfriends. I'd be happy with just the 1. Snakes are much lower maintenance ;)
Yes constantly reorganizing to fit new additions in can be tricky. 3D tetris for sure.

I showed this thread to my man and he want to say to you that girlfriend who likes reptiles in even higher maintenance than normal girls, haha! :)
And yes, that part with stacking new vivs is tricky, but fun at the same time! Hovewer it will be better with all the vivs in the same style and size and not each one different.

Well it looks better as a viv/reptile room, computers look quite boring, Vivs with snakes look fab.

Ian od Oldham, hahaha, that's right! But since we both spent most of our working hours with computers it was best to mix the two in one room, so that we can glance at reptiles every once in a while :)

Thank you macandchz and Albert! I like it plenty too, but just can't wait to move and create a big reptile room with space for all new animals I would like to add, haha!

There should be professional snake enclosure decorators like Sylphie :). I could surely use the help and would happily pay for such a service. My enclosures are nice but the interiors are too plain and needs some flair.

Thank you and oh gosh, you're so sweet! After doing all these vivs I now know that some thing we'll do differently in future, but in the end I'm happy with these too!
And in my country there are several such decorators, but their prices are sooo high, that most of the hobbyists prefer to not use them, haha!

First part of the pics! I'm sorry that they seem to be very dark and "flat", it's all because of the lights in there... we still plan to switch the lights to being outside, not inside but there always seem to be too little time to do this.
Two tanks in the rack still need to be done from zero, so I'm not even posting them! And there are some "hospital type" tanks in our second room, that are babies rack, tank of the White One couse she can't have any type of substrate other than paper and one of the beardies couse we don't have idea how to fit it in a "real" rack. So if you can't place some of the reptiles from our collection in there it means that they are in one of these "not to show" vivs!

This one still needs at least one more plant:

And our emergency tank for a crestie, I know it should be taller, and I'll add more lianas soon, so he has a little more space to climb. I hope we'll be having his proper tank soon!

And my fav one, that needs more plants too, but! What I like most in it is the paint we used, it looks just like real rock, as it's a 3D effect acrylic spray that imitates something similiar to lava rock. In future we plan to use it in all new vivs as it looks super realistic! Unfortunately it's hard to capture in artifical light...

Thank you Ian!
And the two big tanks. The Russian Cave (vertical one) is now a kingdom of Orion since he came to breeding age and can no longer be housed with females. Both females will now live in that big glass tank in a wall tho, so I guess they are happy with that change, haha!

And the last one for now, my table "lamp", kingdom of our young garter snake. Soon we'll need to switch him to bigger tank since he starts to outgrow this one (and I would prefer to have him in horizontal type viv, not vertical).

Very nice backgrounds. Your snakes don't mind all the height?
Sylphie
07-14-16, 04:51 AM
In case of Russians they love to climb and will use all the space provided, so they happily use the heights too! And now it's a castle for one single male, so he's having a looot of space just for himself. As for garter I'm sure he'll be more happy in horizontal tank, that's why I want to change it soon. And thank you!

Just... Wow!
I agree, love the lava rock. I really like the bamboo idea too!
Those tanks look beautiful. Mine are drab and plain looking.

Not seen this thread before Sylphie. Lovely work and certainly your vivs give me some ideas as to what I want to do with mine when we move house.
Great collection too-you keep such an interesting variety.
