I'm trying "Forrest Bed" substrate. It looks great but takes a while to dry out. It makes this guy look good though.

It looks like the ecco earth stuff I used one with a ball. Is it that ground up coconut husk? If it is I found that it was either too wet or too dry. It was too much work for me, I've been spoiled by newspaper. You're right though it sure looks sharp. What type of Cal. King is that?
Cheers,
Trevor

Where did you get the substrate...I like it and would be interested in getting some for a few of my tanks.
Thanks

There he is again. He's looking good on that new substrate. Let us know what you think of it once you get used to it. :)

Thanks,
Trevor,
I'm not sure what it's made of...guess I should have read the label...;) It is all natural so maybe it is coconut. I have always called him a Striped Cal King.

Darren,
I found it at PJ's in Kingsway mall. I don't much like PJ's but I found myself waiting at the mall so I went and got some. It's called Forest Bed and it comes in condensed brick form. It expands to about 9 liters of substrate in water.

Tim,
So far so good. They seem to like burrowing in it. It's really wet becasue I may have used too much water to expand it but it is drying out. It's also cool because of the evaporation so I had to turn up the heat pads a bit. I used it once before when I first got this guy. I discovered mites so I had to toss the whole lot of it.

Looks like a striped Banana kind of. Awesome looking snake and awesome looking substrate. I stopped using that because clean up's were quite messy and it was either very damp or really dry, plus it made my albino kind of dirty.

Very pretty little striped king. The substrate looks like Bed a Beast, shredded coconut fibre that also comes in bricks that expand. We used if for ball pythons and it was great for keeping humidity up, but very hard to completely clean - difficult to find and remove liquid wastes especially. It does look very nice and natural though. Thanks for sharing photos,

Andy, that one would be called a "striped coastal phase". :)
