To start off the introduction of my newest addition, I want to say that I have had several long, hard months with my male lesserbee BP, Moko. He went off feeding quite a while back, and I have tried everything, including ASFs and live and nothing worked. Then I started aeeing him going ipside and having pretty bad coordination. Apparently the nuro issues that hebpreviously didn't show, hit him pretty hard. So, I felt that it was beat that he went to someone nore experienced and more patient than I am.
As such, I decided to trade him to a store who is well known for their awesome staff. A woman who works there and has been dealing with reptiles since she was like 8 had a litter of pure hog island boas. I knew the parents and both are very docile and very awesome snakes. Soooo....I traded him for one of her babies and know he will be well cared for until the nuro takes it's toll. =(
Anyway, I got pick of the litter and chose a nice looking female. She has a bit of a bump on her nose which I think is from rubbing because she was in with a few of her sisters and she seems pretty active. I have her in a pretty big cage for her size so I hope the rubbing will stop. Fingers crossed!
While I was there they also gave me a natural mite spray since it seems that Treasure brought the nasty little buggers in. =/
I have already started the treatment of all of the enclosures, but the spray will help, and it was free. I made tobask how it worked and it's something they have used on just about every snake they take in on trade as well as get in from any dealers to help prevent the suckers from taking over the store. It must work, because I never see any mites on the snakes there. And I look at their 'inventory' quite a bit. I have brought home several from there as well and have no issues.
Anyway, without further ramblings, here are some pics of my new little lady. =)

Very nice Mink!
Nice hog, Mink! Have a look at the nose rubbing thread and keep an eye on that nose, buddy.

Very nice!
Mites are tough to beat -- I recommend a product called "Provent a Mite." Follow the directions carefully.

Lovely boa Mink it's amazing the way the colour can change in them from dark to light in a few hours, it's like having two different snakes in your collection for the price of one :)

Sorry about Moko Mink! I know he was your original gangsta, lol. Congrats on your new hog island girl, she looks terrific.

Thanks.
And yes, it was kind of a hard decision to make. But I am just not comfortable or experienced enough to handle an animal with such severe nuro. And he's only 3 years old =(
I miss his eyes....they were the prettiest green eyes....
But that is in the past now.
So far my new little Chickadee is doing well. Tubbing/pusing has been non existant since Saturday, doesn't appear to have mites any longer (unlike Treasure...grrr) and though it was early, I offered her a rat pink and she slammed it down!
She still needs a name. Thinking of recycling 'Calypso' for her since I loved that name.

Gotcha! Remember to retreat the enclosures and the animals in a few weeks so as to kill any mite eggs that may hatch out.

I'm doing it once a week lol
I don't play when it comes to mites. Nope....

I have a large female I got about 10 years ago. Rumor has it, these guys are getting rare in captivity. Coolest thing about these guys is that they change colors.

How big do these average? Like common boa sized or closer to a true red tail?

Said to be a lil over 6' but my enclosure is 6'x2' and I'd guess she's a good 7' or so.

Males average about 5 feet and females between 6-7 though my understanding is that 7 is a bit more rare.
I'm really enjoying her now that she's not rubbing at all and took a rat pinky 3 days after I brought her home. My only concern is that she spends all her time 'up' and not doen on the heat matt lol. I'm sure it won't matter much, but I worry about everything lol.
I haven't seen her change colors yet tbh, but daaaang is she PINK! It's hard to catch with my cell phone camera, but she is probably the most pink snake I have ever seen! Her dtomach reminds me of roses hehe.
Just throwing a few more pics up because...why not? Lol
She'll remain where she's comfortable. Glad to hear that she's settling in so nicely! You're going to love how different they look during the day and night. Not to hijack, but she really looks like this boy did when he was a neonate. Pretty clean!

Thanks Mink. Some people love the heavy speckling, but admittedly I am the opposite. This is the boy that perished with someone else due to nose rub complications...he fathered a few litters beforehand and was of 100% pure hog island lineage.

Oh man...that is awful =(
I'm sorry he perished...
But yeah, I like the clean lines, and this one is also a pure hog island. I even got to see the parents since the breeder is local. The mother actually gave birth in the store she works at, so I got to see them when they were only days old.
I hope she stays clean. The mother wasn't too speckled but the father had nedium speckles. All the babies were born with at least a few spects except her and maybe 2 others who were born completely spotless, and she's the only one to stay spotless after her 3rd shed. The others developed smaller specks. So...fingers crossed she keeps her clean trend lol.

She looks amazing Mink! Did you end up naming her Calypso or did I read over something?

Love her! She is stunning :) I am excited to get my boy...what sort of enclosure do you have her in?

I did recycle the name Calypso because it was just too good a name to waste lol
Right now she is in a pretry bare 10 gallon tank with a climb, hide, and water dish with paper towel bedding lol.
Turns out that she is actually a pretty chill snake. With just 1 shed her nose rub is completely gone! I think it was just too warm, too humid, and too crowded in her hatchling tub with her sisters.
Here are some pics I took of her just tonight hanging out on a door knob! Lol

Lovely snake mink. I was going to say you can never have too many boas but perhaps you're not the right person to say that to!

Oh my goodness her little self on that doorknob XD Too cute! What are you doing to manage her humidity, being in a 10gallon? I'm just curious, trying to figure out the best way to get a setup going for my little guy so I can get my grubby little hands on him sooooooon!!!!

I just keep her water dish full and mist her once a day and keep the lid mostly covered. I will actually look into getting that flexshot rubber spray stuff and try using that since apparently it seals screens. I'll let you all know how it goes for sure!
