new boa possible scale problem

i recently brought a red pastel hypo boa from a reputable breeder ,she supposed to be sep 2015,i was supposed to pick her up from a trade show last week,but they forgot to bring it , so they got courier to bring her to me, shed rubbed her nose trying to escape out the box but should come out in the next shed, i bathed her last night as i noticed she was peeling around her tale and noticed these brown marks any ideas, i bathed her with my 8 week old new jungle boa and she is pretty much the same size as him saying she supposed to be one in September,shes really tame and freindly and ate well last night

It's hard to tell but it could be low grade scale rot. If you keep her dry, it may shed off, just keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't get worse.

Also, why are you putting a possibly sick boa in the bath with your other snake? You should be practicing a quarantine period. The new snake should be kept separately from your other snake for at least 3-6 months. Don't handle the quarantine animal before your established animal and don't share utensils.

Not following quarantine procedures as previously mentioned can really put your whole collection at risk. Big mistake you're making there Richard, with all due respect. In most cases and with most species, 60 to 90 days would suffice, but some people go longer.

That does look like scale rot. As mentioned, keep dry and clean, keep on newspaper towel until it cleans up, observe for any changes, and keep an eye on it after the next shed. No more baths. Just my recommendations. :)

Thanks for that,I hadn't noticed it on her. Till a couple of days later or I wouldn't of done it bathed them together,she's on paper anyway,hopefully it will shed out as you say,I always sterilise my hands after each snake anyway

^^ What they said. You can try giving her a dilute iodine bath as well -- tea-colored -- to treat any possible infection. Just make sure she drinks beforehand, and that you keep the water level low so only her belly gets exposed. Good luck.

I've been and brought some iodine,and soaked her in a nice tea coloured solution ,thanks everyone for your advise.much appreciated

That's a beautiful looking boa rich! Hope the betadine makes her feel better and does the job. Make sure to place her on paper towels during the treatment phase. Or newspaper. Keep the floor of the enclosure super clean and dry. Good luck.

ive been bathing a couple of times a week in dilute iodine like suggested and shes been in blue eyed zombie face for a few days now so should shed this week her eyes where back clear this morning so hopefully this week will tell whether some has shed out,
fingers crossed she be a nice clean girl so i can get some decent photos of her

well shes had a shed now and just about everything has gone,only a couple of crinkles on her belly scales but no brown marks at all
