View Full Version : What's the record?
Hi, I'm almost exclusively from the carpet python (Morelia spilota) forum, since that's what i exclusively own.
I was wondering what the record (from personal experiences, and overall) what the record is for a BP to go off feed. Carpet pythons rarely go off feed, but there are times of course. In carpets, most fasting comes when switching to rats (infamously a problem for jungle carpet pythons)... wondering how the BP's go. I know BP fasting is incredibly common
Curious,
JIMI

According to the Ball Python Manual, p.23 it says "There are two records of ball pythons having fasted for up to 22 months."
Cheers,
Trevor

Tell me about Dom! I've got one here that eat great all summer and then boom, Sept 29th he had his last and has not responded to anything so I'm playing the waiting game. Not the first time though. I sold a ball last year that would stop like clock work first week of September and not eat again until June. She would only take live too. At the time it was more then I wanted to deal with, now I'm kicking my self for selling a 4 yr old un-bred female BP:( Oh well life goes on the collection continues to grow!
Cheers,
Trevor
Looks like I have been lucky then, my record is 3 -4weeks max, and that has only happened 3 or 4 times in the 3+ years I have had him.
I just ended my streak at 11 months. My ball finally ate 4 days ago and we offered him food every week then one day we left a pre-killed gerbil in there and now it is gone. I still don't believe he ate it and I still look when I go in there lol
