View Full Version : The prasina are hatching! (Green Bush ratsnakes)
Were out of town and thought for sure we'd miss getting to see them hatch but they mostly held off until we got back. All were pipped and one was out when we arrived home this morning.
Finally, after 96 long days, here they are!

I adore the bright green of this species scales, and the dark blue between them. It's an awesome, beautiful effect, and awww that shy little bugger at the bottom is so sweet and precious. >w< Congrats on the babies!

See...I have been wanting to add a nice green snake to my collection. Thought about rough greens for a looong time (they have captive bred here locally!) But their care is too dodgy for me. Thought about an asian vine....same issue. Then I thought about emerald tree boas, but they are expensive and usually wild caught....so of course now that means....my eye is on one of these ;)

Same here ... Ended up with Iroh, our GTP and only python and then these guys to satisfy the need for GREEN! Still want an Asian vine down the road though.
Yay!!! The first prasina shed today, so I went ahead and offered it a day old F/T pinky and it ate immediately!! Hopefully the rest are as quick.

So, how have the rest gone, and do you intend to make them available? How are they as adults?

They had all been eating really well. Then they were sexed and that was hard! I'm not sure on 4 of them, the other 2 are definitely male. Unfortunately one of the males stopped eating after being sexed, he's only refused twice, so not too worried yet. But I think there are 4 males and 2 females. One of the males has sold and gone to it's new home with a friend who didn't care about gender and one of the potential females is spoken for by another local friend. I am planning on getting some more meals into them and then sex them again before offering them for sale anywhere. Don't feel comfortable with selling them to the public right now.
The adults are pretty good, typical Asian ratsnake temperament but not bad. Need smaller meals, the adult females eat 2 hoppers instead of one adult mouse, for example. They are fairly diurnal and like to climb, so are pretty good display snakes.

Can you ship one across the pond, well two
2 Royals 1 Corn 1 Boa and a mad Cat.
Very cool... How big is mom and dad?
Glad to hear they're all eating well for you. If you do decide to sell any to non locals let me know. I'm a rat snake fan for sure.

You should be rescuing an animal instead of shipping animals across the oceans for profit!

I was going to say that but thought I'd get shouted at by a moderator for stirring ;)
