She's in the middle of laying right now! She has 7 so far that I could easily count:D Probably leave her alone to finish up until the morning then stick them in the incubator!

Thanks:) I can't wait! Everything seems good so far in the incubator. I wasn't sure how well I'd do making one but its working just fine.
Fantastic! Now the wait begins.

They still look okay I think. Is the streak marks normal? I candled them and 8/9 have veins. I can't really tell on the back one that is big since it's awkward to try and use my phones flashlight on it. I can get the very top of it candled but not the other half. The top of it is slightly discolored now so not sure if it's alright.

I was thinking sphagnum moss would be a good material for incubating, looks like it's working well for you. Will be another year or two before I'll be expecting any eggs from my bunch.

Here they come...slowly of course...why they can't just pop out so I can see them all already I don't know.

So everyone has now won the battle to get the egg open. Just no one feels like joining the world quite yet. I pulled the flap back on one of the albinos to get a picture and I'm pretty sure it glared at me for the disturbance.

Sweeeeet! Congrats on the clutch Riddick, I hear it can be a challenge to get them to breed in the first place. All these little fellows already spoken for?
Oh btw, I remember a post a while back about you clearing a few animals out. If you ever decide to move your albino grey rat shoot me a PM. My male is allegedly het albino and wouldn't mind finding him a GF :D
Ian, not sure what you mean by an ego and breeding...what's that have to do with anything? Who are you saving snakes from?
A successful clutch is a testament to Riddick's husbandry, knowledge and care for her critters. Personally I think it's something to be congratulated, not scorned.
Anyways, all the best yall.

Yep that's correct! I'm happy everyone made it out just fine. Now I just have to see if everyone will eat for me. If they are anything like the parents it won't be a problem.
Happy days all out and looking good :)
Yep! I still have to check everyone over to make sure they don't have kinks but I didn't notice anything obvious when I was putting them into their setups. And some certainly are fast:shocked:

Thanks! I'm not sure yet who all I am keeping besides the first one out of course. No one else is spoken for yet. If the first one turns out to be female I may not keep any of the others but haven't decided quite yet. I might keep #6 too only because that one escaped the container in the incubator and was on the rim of the cooler trying to figure a way out. I opened the cooler and that one was right there going "oh heeyyy there you are" lol
The only one I have decided to sell so far is my male woma. I haven't posted him anywhere yet though. If I ever decide to sell the grey I will definitely contact you first:) Her color is really nice right now I'm curious to see what she is going to look like in a year or so.
Beautiful clutch of healthy hatchlings. Glad they all made it. Those albinos look pretty sweet!

#6 was trying to escape again when I woke up this morning. This one is going to be trouble! Aren't these things supposed to just hide out not make escape plans...

Nice ;). Any reason for keeping the first one out?
riddick07
07-28-16, 08:51 PM
Mostly because it's the first one from my first clutch but I also like the markings on the back of this one. The broken and alternating H pattern. The only reason I wouldn't keep is if it turned out to be a grumpy one or the color isn't living up to expectations. But overall all the albinos have a nice yellow color even though it's muted a bit right now.

There's a whole world outside of the tub, and that one hatched first to go explore it. Poor snek thought getting out of the egg was the end of the confinement, now he/she wants to motorvate, lol.

7/8 have shed now and 1/8 have eaten. I'll probably offer Sunday for the rest of them to see if they will eat frozen. #4 is a really dark orange color now and I'm tempted to keep that one...I have no idea how I will decide who to keep!

Keep the most unusual looking one :)
riddick07
08-11-16, 10:26 PM
No one looks that unusual. I'll probably base it on who is female. #6 is not so nice...the grumpiness not sure where that came from lol
Everyone has shed. I still have 2 hold outs for eating but everyone else has eaten. #1 has eaten twice already. Apparently that one really does take after the male.

08-12-16, 07:16 AM
I lied I just have one hold out for feeding now and its the smallest one. It's interesting that most of these guys will just eat it if I leave it in the container. They don't seem to need the movement or anything. They have all been eating frozen easy except for that one that keeps giving me the finger lol

That's one of the reasons why we won't breed only with burms and retics the babies may take up a bit more space :D
:D I'll take an albino off your hands if you decide to part with any.

Some of these albinos are very orange after the first shed. I need to grab a real camera instead of my iPad but here is everyone! I plan to pop them Sunday to have a better idea of who I'm actually keeping. Can't actually keep them all so there will be some albinos available.

Soooo. After getting some advice it turns out I have lots of males. I have no idea what I'm going to do now since my two favorite for the albinos are males. I'm tempted to still keep them but that's a lot of males!
Minkness
08-24-16, 08:26 PM
You can send one or two my way ;)
I generally stay pretty male heavy anyway lol.
They pulled a switcharoo on you. Guess that a bit of a bummer for your holdbacks. At least they're healthy and look good.
riddick07
08-24-16, 08:42 PM
They really did. Right now 2 and 5 still look female and I'll keep them both if it stays that way. I'll have to triple check them but it does seem like those are the only two! I'm going to have to think about if I'm going to keep 1 or 4 at all now. #2 was actually my last pick to keep out of the albinos so of course it turns out to look like my only albino girl!

Photos from today. They haven't really changed much though they aren't quite as squirmy any more. They are so close to being ready! Except 7 I expect he will be around for awhile since he is slow to eat. So far just one meal for that one.
