New to Snakes

I got my first snake last week. I've had all types of herps except snakes until now. I walked into the store to get KMR and spotted a clerk showing a pretty little Sand Boa to a couple. On my way out, I stopped to look and the clerk brought him (her) out. I've been wanting to get a snake for a while. I wanted something on the smaller size. It's name is Sandy - original huh LOL.

Yeah finally found info on when they reach maturity and Sandy is a boy. He was at the store for 22 months. I don't know how old he was when he arrived but I'm pretty sure it would be at least a month? He'd been on a hunger strike for the last 3 months. Tonight he ate for me. My granddaughters were entranced watching him open up and swallow.

Very likely the high stress environment of a busy store plus likely un knowledgeable staff were to blame. A calm home environment and someone who knows reptiles is a big difference. Welcome and glad he ate.
