So I resisted the lure of that other retic I posted about...but then fell flat on my face when I saw this girl! I couldn't resist even though she completely ruins the plans I had for more boas. Its going to be a pain to move in the future but the birds already made that a pain soooo....she's so pretty, right!?!?!

Supposed to have a really nice personality and very tolerant with being manhandled by lots of people. I can't wait till she arrives I missed having a big butt snake!
So what enclosure size does everyone do for their adults? I have a 10-11ftish by around 30 in area that I want to put her when she grows up. I was thinking of doing 96in by 30in enclosure? Would a 72in be better?

No you don't!
I'm actually pretty much at my limit after she comes home along with the boa I have on deposit. The extra room I have is reserved for the beauty snake project. Though I am contemplating selling a few snakes right now that just don't fit very well here.

If I had your address I'd be waiting at the door when that package arrived and you'd be wondering what ever became of your pretty new baby, LOL. Seriously though, as bright and beautiful as she is I simply don't want anything that takes more than one person to handle, or needs it's own room as an adult. Just keep posting pics, do want to see lots more of her.

From what I keep seeing it seems like they really don't need as much room as one would think and that a lot of room can create some territorial issues in them. I keep seeing the size enclosures that work with them are 6x3 or 8x3 depending on the size of the animal...of course if you get one of the monsters it will need something bigger than those numbers. So I'm thinking a 72in x 30in enclosure (the enclosure size I was doing for my sunglow boa when she's grown up) until I start to see what her size will be...apparently mom was about 12ft and dad is still pretty young and was only about 6ft at the time.
My only real worry is the multiple people thing haha. It's easy enough while I'm close to family but if I were to move across the state like I was contemplating I might run into some problems!

Pretty sure the territorial issues are false, I have my retic in a 4'x2', she's 6' now but was 5' when I put her in. I've noticed 0 differences in her behavior. I've seen someone convert an entire basement into a home for a Burm, and as far as I know they've never experienced any aggression issues. The only reason I don't have mine in a 6'x2' already is because she takes up such a small amount of room it would take a lot of cluttering.
She's a gorgeous girl, though! Beauties like her want me to go ahead and get more retics! Gotta keep room for my boa constrictor projects, though.
(Also 12' is small for a female, did they breed her young or are they dwarfs?)

What size enclosure were you thinking for yours as an adult?
Honestly the whole room idea wouldn't be bad if no issues were to crop up but I don't own a house yet so an idea for the future! I do like the enclosure I see that take up pretty much a whole wall with what looks like a small pond in it...obviously something else that I couldn't do until a place was mine. She'd definitely make a beautiful display animal in a living room though I guess that might not be too nice on guests lol
No I don't think there is any dwarf blood in them. From the picture I have of the mother she looks hefty enough but not super long. He could have meant that's how long she was in the picture not today too.
The picture from the breeder.

Right now I'm just planning on an 8'x4'x3' since it's easier to get a cage from a PVC company than make something myself that I might not be able to remove from our home and then have to move cross-country in a few years (granted either Lacey Act is null or someone can ship her). I'm currently living in trailers and apartments while I wait until I can buy a house, so I can't make what I'd like. haha When I own my own house, I want to make something floor to ceiling and at least 4' wide, and maybe 10'-12' long. I'm not sure if I'll combine some cages or make one from scratch, but I'll see when I get there I guess. I don't have the expertise to convert a room, but if I meet someone who can maybe I'll do that. haha
She could have some dwarf blood in her, or just be a small individual, depending on if she's grown any bigger since then. I'd maybe ask the breeder about that, if her mom's got dwarf blood, or both her parents are just small, you'll probably have a small retic when she grows up.

Okay so I did ask about moms size. She is a 12ft girl that he has had since she was a hatchling and he said no matter how much she was fed she just didn't grow past that mark. He said that her line tends to stay on the manageable size even though they are certainely not dwarfs.
I don't have the expertise myself for building anything and I'd probably cut off a finger some how trying:eek: I wouldn't mind hiring someone in the future to create something though if she stays on the small side it wouldn't really be necessary but I think she's too pretty not to have some sort of beautiful display cage! Even though I'm certain I'll be cursing my head off cleaning it all the time:crazy2:

Thanks:D She arrives Wednesday. I'm having her held at the local fedex center since I have a vet appointment for my horse that day. Should have more photos of her to share early afternoon!

She is from Jay Gonzalez. I asked him and her hatch date is March 9th. She is pretty active but very friendly and tolerant of all the attention!

I actually think shes pretty big already! I have pictures from some of her clutchmates and she does look to be bigger than them but it was only a few of them. I'm curious to see where she will end up when it comes to size.

Thanks:)
I have a 4x2 that I will probably move her to once her separation from everyone is over. Hopefully she doesn't get too big before it's over since I have her in a plastic container right now:eek:
She will only be able to do this for a little longer lol

Oh she'll definitely outgrow it quickly! Plan on it lasting 6 months at most. I put my retic in her 4'x2' when she was 5'. It's been roughly 4 months and she's already outgrown the 4'x2' but she's still a bit small for me to jump her right into her 6'x2'. I want her to be 7' when I do that but I don't think she's quite there yet. I'm hoping by next fall I'll have her 8'x4' ordered from Animal Plastics, since she'll probably outgrow her 6'x2' by then.

I plan on including her adult cage in my next animal plastics order that I'm placing at the very most 6 months from now. I'm just unsure if I want to talk to them about a custom cage order or not since I still haven't decided on boa cage sizes!

The only viv we had to move Jenny into was a 6x2x2. She was still only really a hatchling but we decided to give it a go, so we loaded it out with plenty of plants and branches so she could move around without it feeling like a big empty space and she thrived in it. It also saved some cash doing the usual moving up in viv size everytime she'd outgrown the one she was in. If only we had tried this when we had first got Daisy we would have saved ourselves a small fortune. And keep the pics coming mate she's a beauty ;)

What snakes were you considering parting with?

I bought the 4x2 for someone else but they aren't really big enough yet for it so I figured I'd stick this girl in it until her cage came in. I'm guessing the other one (bull snake) will be big enough for it by then!
Humble - Thanks! The ones I have been thinking about were the woma, king, and possibly my male ball python.
