Recently got a pair of these that I collected in Oregon. I think they are a cool looking species.

They look amazing! Are they related?

It's really hard to say. The guy I collected them with has been studying rubber boas since the 60s and has recaptures going back 25 years. I am drawing on his experience here, they have a high degree of site fidelity and seem to stick to home ranges. When commercial collectors hit an area, it can be void of boas for a season or two before immigration from the outside area repopulates the site... so presumably there is always some gene flow at a given site but how much given site fidelity is unknown without genetic studies...? Unsure.... both were captured at the same site but there is nothing else known.

That is very interesting. For some reason I thought they were a tropical or semi tropical species.

very nice! cant say ive ever seen these up close, would love to see more pictures
They're up here in British Columbia as well and their natural range stretches pretty far north. The babies of this species won't eat until after their first brumation. A very unique boa not commonly kept. Those are really nice!
