Well we have endured the long move from OH to TX. All the snakes and the turtle made it without incident. Snapped some pictures after giving them all week off to recuperate from the move.

I've been pretty impressed with Bellatrix lately. She's really filling out since the mite struggle. She settled in for an active but fun handling tonight. I'm finally starting to see some personality, she always has her head hanging out of her hide waiting on food. She's absolutely become a pig. These Pits are super muscular. Her pink is fading being replaced with a really stunning white. :D

Lupin is still pretty shy, but he's coming along. He recently had a good shed and his colors are improving.

Estella has really packed on some weight, I've quit being so shy on the size of prey I give and the snakes have really started to grow and become more active. Estella continues to get sweeter and hasn't displayed in a while yet.

Salt was unavailable for camera as usual, he has a very good hiding spot and usually surfaces after a couple days. his colors have changed quite a bit though.

Anyways just an update that all is well. The new job I moved for is terrific and a great fit. Definitely moved to suburbia though bleh. I'd be excited to see if there are any reptile shows near Ft Worth. All the best yall.

Derek

Ooooh, I would love to have pituophis in my collection! :( They are so stunning, especially Bella!

Glad everything is fine and that the move wasn't a big issue. Please, add pics of Salt as soon as you can, I love to see the colubrid change between hatchlings and adults!

All your snakes look great Derek but your pits are AMAZING! I've always thought Bella was stellar but Lupin is very impressive too. Don't be shy about feeding them but don't let them dictate the pace because they'll eat every 3 days at that age if you let them. They're not your typical colubrid :). Congrats on the successful move too. I hope you love the new job and place.

Thanks very much guys!

EZ, Bella is especially hungry looking haha. I usually feed them every 5-6 days. Lupin is starting to look nice, and like Bellatrix he's apprehensive to eat in front of me or off the tongs. But she got outgoing after awhile so I predict the same for him (hopefully :D)

Finally found Salt, as usual he just pops up under his water bowl one random morning. His colors have really changed in the last couple months. He turned pinkish an then more of this dull earth/orange color. He's a very inquisitive snake with a very calm demeanor. Just a joy to handle

Bella chilling after her first rat fuzzy. I had my mother over for a visit this past weekend and she was interested in watching the snakes get fed....just a priceless reaction when she sees Bella crash into the fuzzy and dart back into her hide haha.

SWDK,

Thanks! Did you wind of getting into one of these gopher snakes? I remember a post about it awhile back. Very diverse and impressive collection you have going there, the VBB's are just so dang pretty.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to get my hands on one yet. I've contacted numerous sources and they all sold out by time I've got to them. I'm on waiting lists so we will see how that pans out. My local reptile show is coming up the first weekend of August so maybe I'll stumble upon one there.

Thank you! My collection is kind of all over the place, but mainly focuses on colubrids. I've got two more additions coming in on Tuesday...Tiger Rat Snske and a Red Tailed Green Rat Snake.

Very cool. It sounds like we have a pretty similiar colubrid wish list. Can't wait to see that tiger rat!

Don't hesitate if you get a chance to get one of Jason Nelson's Pits. I think he produces some of the finest Pits in the country and he's a great guy to do business with.

Thanks EL. I'm anxiously awaiting his email. Hopefully by early next week I'll have some pics to post of the new gophers.
