sorry to ask a stupid question , but should a python poop after each mouse? sometimes i feed mac 2 large mice and it seems like forever before he goes. i search his enclosure regularly in case i missed something but he just doesn't to seem to go that often. do i wait till i see something before i feed him again? thanks for any advice.

Don't know about pythons but my boa generally goes every couple of weeks or so (every two feeds at the moment).

All snakes have comparatively slow metabolisms, some much more so than others, so pooping every so often isn't unusual.

If he is going regularly (albeit not often) and the poop looks good (relative term) then I'd not worry.

I think blood pythons only go every few months!

Some snakes save it up, some snakes poop after every feed, some poop multiple times after every feed.. My oldest retics poops every day for a week straight after eating, while my youngest retic saves up a few meals before leaving me a surprise :D

i know with ball pythons its a variable schedule when it comes to defecation. They have a tendency to hold onto theirs bc of the slow metabolism. Secondly, due to the reabsorbtion of water they need. Most ball pythons drink very little from their water dishes. The other factor is the type of prey ingested.
