Introducing Tam. She's a female Beauty snake that a semi local friend "rescued" from a well meaning but somewhat ill informed young lady. She kept her for a number of months, where she doubled in size, being fed more appropriately sized meals, but decided that she might not have the space when she is grown, so offered her to me. (I'm actually a bit intimidated by their potential size too but we'll see how it goes.)

Today was actually nice enough that I was able to take her outside for some arrival pictures.

Beautiful as the name implies. This is a Taiwanese Blue Beauty?

I was not aware there was a Taiwanese blue beauty snake, only Vietnamese. I am also curious about her heritage. She is almost like a combination of color between the normal and blue beauty, could she be a hybrid? I think she is stunning either way.

Actually, I'm not sure. I am thinking she is a Vietnamese but could definitely be wrong.

Unfortunately, I don't have a great deal of background on her. Could be a hybrid for all I know.

I believe I incorrectly recalled the name then. Vietnamese, not Taiwanese.
I just recall there is a line of Beauty snakes particular to one of those countries.

Very nice VBB. The "blue" these ones can express is pretty variable, and that's a nice one!

Thanks! Probably just biased but I think she's one of the prettiest I've seen.

Good looking beauty you got yourself! Any idea on age? Size? Being a female she should stay on the smaller end of the size spectrum, 8' or so, but 10' isn't out of the question!

She is 2 years old but small for her age, though I think she's just about caught up now/is catching up. I don't have a weight on her yet. She'd been fed a lot less than she should have been by the original owner. She was on mouse hoppers up until my friend got her and is now eating small rats.

I'd put a average size of around 7' at two years old. You think she's in that range?

Charis

No, she's about 5 1/2' approx. Guess she's got more growing to do to catch up than I thought.

Shell probably grow fast. My male tai is very two years old and over 7'. Are you feeding rats or mice? Once mine switch to rats they seem to put on some size. Really the biggest jump came when they would be large enough for small rats.

When my friend got her back around Thanksgiving, she was eating hopper mice. She is now on small adult rats and has doubled in size since Thanksgiving.

Oh yeah if she's grown that much since thanksgiving I'll bet she keeps going. Keeps us posted. Nothing better than a 10' colubrid!
