View Full Version : New Hatchling Everglades Ratsnake
I just received a hatchling Everglades Ratsnake from Big Apple Reptiles. It's officially the smallest snake I've ever kept. It's only about 10" at best and thin as a pencil. I'm guessing I should try to feed it pinks or possibly cut in half pinks? Here's a quick pic from directly after unboxing.

Feed it small (1-2 day old) pinks, and it will quickly grow large enough for bigger items. Rat snakes do have a decent belly capacity, it will be fine.
Thanks! I got some day old pinks from a pet store yesterday evening. I'll let it settle in for a few days then offer a meal. It's a feisty little thing for sure. Bit me 5 times in the process of taking that pic. Guess you have to be tough when you're that small and a big hand comes your way.

He's such a tiny little thing. Congrats on him! He's so cute :)
Thank you. I can't wait to see it grow up and go through the color change.

Nice critter Dave. Congrats on the new addition.
The little guy/girl ate a pinky tonight. It took it with gusto which took my by surprise. I'm very happy that it ate for me.

That's great news! I always love it when I can get a new animal eating right out of the box (especially babies). Here's to hoping he doesn't give you any trouble later though!
