Hey community, this past Sunday was the Long Island Reptile Expo and I got there a bit late. Of course I had my mind set on a couple of things only. Show was in full effect and crowded. Everything from invertebrates to large carpet pythons and boas but no venomous or giants. I did a lot of walking, talking and looking. I did pick up some live feeders but the ball python I was looking for no vendor had. So I decided to surprise my better half with something she has wanted for a long time. Lol.

This pac man is known as a four spot. He/ she came from a reputable breeder who told me you can't determine the sex for about 5 or 6 months. So we have it on quarantine in a 1 at. Tub until we get the 5 gallon upgrade and supplies. The little guy took a mouse pinky the next morning with a bit of hesitation. Downed it quick , fast and in a hurry.

Thanks AG, the breeder had so many morphs to choose from. I picked this guy bc it looked a bit different from pac man frogs I have seen in the past. It also looked like a color wifey would want.

Probably the iPad camera. It's actually like a tannish to very light brown.

Thank you H, this guy was a reputable breeder who specializes in pac man and pixie frogs. He had a awesome display.

Thanks jp, well I think they are very interesting and relatively simple to keep.

Well Mink, this was a gift to my wife and the frog was almost lavender looking and I thought she would dig the color. There were strawberrys, pineapples, greens, browns and four spots and so many others.

Oh, wifey named the frog a unisex name. Jordan. Everyone says Pac-Man frogs are just sit there and don't move types but this guy is pretty active. Maybe bc he/ she is young. And it can jump pretty high also. Haha.

Ooooh, we need more pics for sure then!
I was always interested pac mans but as you mentioned, most people say they just sit there, so they are just a 'oooh...so cool!' Kinda thing for me lol.
Looking forward to updates on Jordan!
Also, how fast do these guys grow?

These guys basically feed on frog food which can be purchased at pet stores or a frog breeder may also sell it. The food gets mixed with water and is and then formed to be edible. They also eat crickets, roaches, and wax worms, nightcrawlers and mice. Very large variety of things are accepted by pac man frogs.

Oh, I plan on posting more pics definitely. I think as adults, as their weight increases, makes them more sedentary. The extra weight also hampers their jumping abilities. Pac man frogs have very large mouths and stomachs. I will be updating. Lol.

Just a update on Jordan! He was moved to a larger more naturalistic setting. He has been pretty active and seemingly happy. Feeding and accepting on a regular basis. He has a new address in a ten gallon aquarium with Eco earth and a hide with some artificial foliage. His stone oval water dish gets used often and he is one funny frog when he begins jumping and then doing the frog version of the moonwalk to get dug into the Eco earth. Haha. I don't know how quickly their growth rate is but they shed fairly often as youngsters. He has grown quite a bit but mostly in width. His temps are 82f during the day with a 79f nighttime as the ambient. The floor of the enclosure averages about 84f - 86f . Controlled with a Herpstat 1 set at 92f

Thanks Koko, I thought the same thing when i viewed it in the tub at the show. There were actually ones smaller than Jordan for sale. For some reason i keep referring to Jordan as he and we wont know for awhile.

Jordan chilling in his cleaned enclosure. Oh, except for the water dish present he left behind. Lol. This frog is growing like a weed! We feed him every two , three days.

It's been several months since I updated Jordan who has been thriving and seemingly very content. He has been a welcome addition to the zoo here. Lol. Feeding on his favorite nightcrawlers and occasional fish or pink mice, he has started becoming more vocal which leads me to believe he may be a guy! Still housed in the 10 gallon tank for now coming out at night to soak and explore. His temps stay in the 82f to 86f during the day with the humidity percentage at 76% and going as high as 96% at times.

Tyvm sir! It's so funny when you watch him jumping. So big, but he can move quick when he wants to.
That's a cool little pacman. I've always liked them and have had thought about getting one someday. Good luck with Jordan.

Thanks, and yes she does! Almost every animal here has a name. Lol. It's hard not to get attached to a pac man once you have one in your possession.

I was at petco today to get crickets for my tarantula and they had one pacman on sale for $12.99. I almost got it just to get it out of their care, but didnt and now I'm 2nd guessing myself.

Personally, I think you should wait for the reptile expo in your area. This way you can buy from a pac man frog breeder and get a well started animal that for the most part will be healthy. If I find the card that I got from the breeder of Jordan I can pm it to you. He is the frog expert.

Jordan, like most pets, wait until you are finished completely cleaning the enclosure then they leave something extra for you! UNREAL. Lol.
