Anyone have any direct or secondhand experience with this species? Saw a recent post on facebook, someone selling their collection, and has a 6' male available. The care sheets I've seen say they're pretty hardy, don't need high heat or humidity.

dear toddnbecka, what kind of set-up do you have for all your snakes?
You might try to pm marvelfreak. I'm pretty sure I remember him having at least one. I might be wrong but it's worth a shot.

They have a couple of really nice looking Macklotts in my local reptile store. Would be tempted if I could add fui the collection.
From speaking to the guys there they can be a bit grumpy and have a tendency to musk without much warning our provocation but some individuals can be pretty chilled.
I would buy a make without seeing it in person and seeing how out handles etc.

Most are in aquariums, I've kept fish for decades and relatively recently I've been switching over to snakes. Will still keep the 220 and 125 for fish, but the 90's, 75's, and smaller tanks have mostly been emptied and repurposed now, a couple are in plastic tubs. I'll be taking down 2 90's and a 75 next week, the space occupied by one tank and stand will fit 3-4 stacked 4x2 enclosures. I'm almost finished building 4 more of the 5 plywood enclosures. I use ultratherm heat mats, ceramic heat bulbs, and radiant heat panels depending on the requirements and enclosure type. I was planning to build 12 of the plywood enclosures but I'm leaning more toward buying similar size Animal Plastics enclosures instead. I have several Helix thermostats and 2 Herpstat 4's, the Helix are good t-stats and each will run 3 mats, but don't have individual temp probes for each mat or a night time temp drop option like the Herpstats.
