After the mother of all flus was combined with the beginning of a new and incredibly busy semester, I finally had a chance to take a few new pics today. These are of an adult North Brazilian male Boa constrictor. He has a fantastic contrast and beautiful facial coloration. He is quite the character too.

Gorgeous boy! I've always thought the dark constrictors looked better than the dark imperators.

Handsome looking, muscle bound rodent killer. Terrific specimen.

Gorgeous! Wouldn't like to get on his bad side though!

His temperament is actually quite good--the reason why I say that he is a character is because he has a tendency toward doing ridiculous things. When I first acquired him, I met up with the guy locally. He had transported him in a large plastic container that had snap locks and was also taped. However, while he was making a pit stop prior to the meeting, this boa apparently pushed his way out of the container (he is large for a male, and thus quite strong), and subsequently lodged himself in one of the worst places that were available to him--the inside of the truck's dash. This ended up requiring a trip to the local stealership in order to be able to retrieve the snake. It is impressive how a large boa of that size was able to squeeze its way into the interior of the dash.

Love the dark look, is he going to grow into a big boy?

Definitely sounds like a character! But I just meant he was so large and muscular, I don't wanna imagine him angry...

He is already quite large for a male. I've never measured him, but I'd estimate him to be around 7-8 ft.

Lovely snake - any chance of some close ups of the face some time? Looks a beauty...

Definitely at some point. He was a bit too squirrely for a head shot during this session, but hopefully I'll be able to get him to settle down a bit next time.

This is one of my younger North Brazilian females. Zoo-bred and almost white. Who needs morphs when nature can produce this level of beauty? :)

This picture of my large adult female is already a bit older, but it shows her coloration and pattern rather nicely. She is a Lemke line North Brazilian female that I'm hoping to pair up with the dark male listed above later this year.

Your snakes are beyond amazing Night. I'm blown away by some of the animals you've showcased. You're an ambassador for our hobby. ;)

Absolutely gorgeous! :D makes me miss my pure redtails, that large adult female looks like a male i used to have. Won't be getting any of them this time though, otherwise i would probably need an even bigger house..

There is a rumor that the house grows along with the snake, if you feed it correctly. Or something like that...;)

Yes i know that rumor, and i can confirm it has gotten me a long way.. However another rumor that turned out to be true.. getting your house to grow along with the snake (hobby) requires feeding it from your wallet. Sadly my wallet does not support this particular behaviour at the moment, it is still trying to work its way back up from my last outburst haha.. (Working on long term housing for all my giants, but who knows what the future brings..)

Boa constrictors are incredibly beautiful snakes. I love the shape of their heads and how much girth they get as adults. My little ball python seems like such a pip squeak compared to those big guys! lol

Can't wait to get one!

Wow! They all should be on the cover of Reptiles magazine.
