More boa questions

So lately I've been looking around at boa constrictors a lot, and I just found a 2yr old Central American Boa on Craigslist in my area. I know there are risks with buying from Craigslist, but my main question was that this boa is about 3-4ft long and is advertised as being 2 years old. Does this sound like an appropriate size?

Also, the snake comes with a 48"Lx18"Wx24"H enclosure, how long would a cage of this size be a suitable home for this animal?

Not much of a boa person but that sounds about right to me, I would think a 4x2x2 would be suitable as an enclosure so I don't think 6 inches in width will make much difference

Well, I am getting a 2 year old male here in a few months (making payments and waiting to move, but he's mine lol) and he is only a little over 3 feet. My plans are to get him into a 5 foot long, 2 foot deep, 2 foot tall adult enclosure in a year. And the breeder doubts he will reach 6 feet as an adult. It may be over kill, but I like the asthetic. =)

just make sure he feels secure, a lot of snakes stress out in a big cage I had a tiger retic that loved her small cage, she was 11 foot and in a vision 322 which is only 3 feet wide but she loved it, ended up moving her to a 6x3x2 and she turned into a nightmare, got one of those black cement tubs and cut a hole in it so she had a hide and turned back to her normal self again.

I plan on doing a nice, 'natural' set up that offers lots of hides and even some climbing areas. =)

He will be in a smaller enclosure till I get it done, so he should be closer to 5 feet when I actually get him into the enclosure.

Sounds like you have yourself a plan there, I'd love to be able to build my own cages but i wasn't blessed with great carpentry skills lol :D

Eh, these I think are pretty easy over all because you're basically just building a box lol. Also, there's ALOT of how to guides available on the net. The hardest part for me I think will be installing the RHP and the sliding acrylic doors. But again, nothing a youtube how to can't help with. ^_^

Yup sounds right Andrew. If it's closer to 4' than 3' I'd actually say it's rather large for its age tbh.

Size sounds about right. Am lots of questions of the seller though and ask to see fed charts, shedding records etc. If they don't have them walk away and if you're at all unsure walk away.

The temptation is there to just buy the snake because got want it so much ( been there done that) but if this isn't the right snake for you then don't rush in to it. Wait it out and the right 'un will come along.

If it's 4' then it's pretty close in age/length to my Central American and mine is starting to slow down a lot in lengthwise growth. Your cage seems to be an adequate size, but it's also important to make sure that it can maintain a proper temperature gradient and humidity levels with the equipment provided.

Everything sounds good. Centrals stay a bit smaller and more slender than the colombians. That cage size would be good unless he gets over 5.5 feet or so. I doubt he will.
