So I am getting a baby burm and he will be about 18"-24" and about 3 months when he get here and I will be keeping him in a 20-30 gallon tank for a month or two (if he doesn't out grow it earlier!).
I am planning on custom building him an enclosure and i have the space and materials to build his a sturdy 8' wide by 4' deep by 2' high.

Is this too big??? I always thought bigger was better but I read an old thread on this subject and a moderator was saying that 6' by 3' is all you need and all you really should have for an adult burmese python or else they will get stressed out. Is this true?? I plan to have some wood pieces, hides and large fake plants so he won't just be out in the open.

Let me know what you think would be the best enclosure size for an adult male (non-powered) male burm. Thanks!

That should be a fins size as long as theres lots of hiding places so that it can feel secure throughout the enclosure.

No such thing as too big. Don't go higher than your 2' plan. Makes heating a nightmare. Other than that the sky is the limit. You can put him in there right away just give it tons of hides and ground cover so it feels secure.

As already said mate there's no such thing as to big when it comes to viv size for adult burms, although most of the time they just can be found lying in the corner not moving for days on end :D. On a side note if your going to put him in a glass tank when you first get him be sure to cover three sides to make him feel secure, a lot of baby burms are very nervous little things and will stress with the feeling of to much space. Looking forward to seeing pics of your guy when he arrives :)

Yup no such thing as too big. If you go higher than 2', I'd advise a split-level heating system, then it shouldn't be such a hassle to heat.

Thanks guys for all the advice! I think I am going to make it a little shorter (18-21 inches) just so it won't be too hard to heat. I will definitely be making an introduction post I pick him up and he gets settled. I will also hopefully be posting the construction process and the final product. Thanks again!

Just be aware that cage won't last long at all once he starts eating. You'll need a bigger cage as soon as possible
