i am having trouble getting my heating pad to stick on the bottom of my 40 gal tank. it lasts about 2 wks then falls off, ihave the tank raised about 1 inch off the table. i use this just on the hot side. is it safe to tape it?

I used electrical tape on mine and it hasn't given me any problems.

Foil tape will hold it on.

Nope. Foil tape is shiny, and has a metal back. Electrical tape is stretchy and rubbery. At least, that's my understanding of the two.

Electrical tape is made to insulate a connection, not for heated application.
Foil tape is what is used in your central air ducts to seal joints.
