I'm getting a trio of baby ridgetails or (ackies) in the near future (when they are born) so I set up an enclosure for them BUT I used sand and ive heard a lot about using cypress mulch or damp paper towels. Should I switch the substrate or is sand (repti-sand) a safe choice?

If you are going to be getting babies, I'd strongly suggest something much smaller, and definately not sand or mulch. I raise babies for the first couple months of their life on coconut fibre, but surely do not recommend this for long. It works great with little ones though as it retains moisture, will hold a burrow, and is very clean.
I gotta run for now, but will try to take a couple pics of my rearing cages for you by tomorrow.
Best wishes,

Hi Kyle,
Below is what I am doing, I am sure there are many different ways to have a thriving happy Ackie though
Dirt:
I am using outside ground dirt, with added sand to break up the clay and a bit of top soil (Black earth) to hold a pit more humidity
Retes Stack
I believe it is very important to have a retes stack, both as a hiding area they can have without the stress of digging one and they can also have a wide range or temperatures. (in my photo Gallery is how to build one)
Temperature:
HOT, hotter than you think do your own research on this, RAVI book is a good Start, but have both a night heat light and a daylight flood. I use floodlights and infrared floods from Home Depot at about a third of the cost of the reptial lights.
Water
Obviously drinking but I give mine a bath, every so often.
Care Sheet;
Try Proexotics
Good luck
Brian
