Simple morphs in this town range anywhere from 100 to easily 500 at the renowned local pet store. I noticed a lot of snakes are much cheaper online despite shipping fees and would like a few pointers. My preferences are an upkeep as the same as my ball python and a friendly temperament.

Research your snakes first and figure out what you really want. My go to place for online reptile sales is faunaclassifieds.com.

Two main ones are faunaclassifieds.com and kingsnake.com, also a wide variety of FB groups where you might find something semi-local. Fauna also has a forum, and you can research the sellers feedback, etc. on there.
Dont forget your local reptile keepers on facebook, that can save you on shipping as well.
Usually you can find local city or county or even state reptile swap/sales groups there.

I do know that BHB has lots of baby corns, rats, and kings listed for sale in the 20-100 dollar range, I also agree with faunaclassifieds.

The base price when you're talking under 4 digits shouldn't matter much. Over the years it is likely to live, the food, supplies, and housing will mean the initial price won't compute much into the total cost of having owned the animal. Get the one you really want.
