I was just sitting at my desk when all of a sudden I heard a loud and unrecognizeable noise come from my snake's tank. I turned to look, and he was tensing up his body in an S-shape and shaking, then I heard the noise again and lo and behold a gigantic bowel movement occurs.
It was loud to the point of startling me. I had no idea that was even a possibility. The only adjective I can think of to describe what just happened is "explosive".
Any similar experiences? Sorry, I know its gross but im in total disbelief over what just happened. I've had this snake for like a year and I've never witnessed, let alone heard a bowel movement in progress. I dont even know how to react

I've only ever witnessed a few poops that weren't self defense poops in any of the species, both reptile and amphibian.
What species of snake is it?

When I had my snakes in the same room as me, I'd randomly hear loud farts coming from my boa constrictor from across the room (a good 6'-7' away). I'd look over and he'd be staring at me over the lip of his enclosure. So weird.
All of my other snakes are considerably smaller than he is, so they aren't quite so loud.

My male BP, Moko once woke me from a dead sleep because he farted/pooped so loud. I had no idea that was eben a possibility. XD
I haven't heard any farts or poops in a while though.
Yup this happens lol. Wait until you hear a large retic.

One of my rainbow boas are just under 4 ft, she hadn't gone in awhile but when she did there were definitely some disturbing sounds.... First and only time I'd ever heard it.

My larger pine snakes produce some pretty impressive farts when they poop. Even if the poop itself is small, it's almost always accompanied by one or more obnoxious juicy farts. It shocks me every time. Amazing how loud it can be!
