Ok, so I know there are already threads like this, but opinions change so like the title, what would you pick, ill start it off:
1. My leos
2. Roughneck Monitor
3. Mexican Spiny Iguana

I love threads like these :3
(Not including any animal I already own)
1. Leachie gecko. Love em but can't afford a $500 animal right now.
2. Ringneck snake. Beautiful but fragile.
3. Woma Python. Always been a favorite.
4. Retic. Again, a favorite, but they're too big for me right now.
5. Northern Terrapin. Not much of a turtle person, but these babies are drop dead gorgeous. I could make an exception for them
Oh that's hard, I'll have to ponder this question lol.

Easy!
1. Lace Monitor. Favourite reptile.
2. Any species of giant softshell turtle.. not really around in captivity but awesome animals.
3. High contrast jungle carpet python. Look brilliant.
4. Some species of caiman
5. A group of sulcatas as more of a chilled contrast to all these huge predators ;)

I don't think I could ever do just 5....
However, I'll give this a shot. Not counting what I already have.
1. Alligator (or culivers dwarf caimen)
2. Abronia
3. Radiated tortoise
4. Hairy bush viper
5. Gilla monster
I will never be able to own any of these animals for several reasons. Mostly state laws and cost. Though the Abronias are coming down in rice lately so I may one day have one. =)
Pics below are in order of the list.

If I wasn't also able to keep what I already have:
1. Candy Stripe Brazilian rainbow boa
2. Argentine boa constrictor
3. Snow boa constrictor
4. Snow genetic stripe reticulated python
5. A really nice, pale Suriname boa constrictor with a bright tail
If I can keep what I already have:
1. Argentine boa constrictor
2. Candy Stripe Brazilian rainbow boa
3. Hypo Burmese python
4. A nice black and white diamond python, pure
5. Hog Island boa constrictor
The two lists are vastly different for good reasons. :P

1) Eastern Indigo
2) Nile Monitor
3) Hypo Red Bullsnake
4) BRB (BSG I checked out the candy stripes, those are absolutely beautiful!)
5) Caramel Jaguar Carpet Python
My IF's are pretty attainable, cost being the main deterrent in most. Mink it's interesting you mentioned the Gila monster. We have one up at the shelter that likes to chase my hand around when I change his water, not looking forward to getting gnawed on him hahaha. I'll try and snap some photos for you next week.
1. Either a BCC, BCO, BCL, or an IMG BCI
2. Asian Water monitor
3. Eastern diamondback rattlesnake
4. Cow retic
5. Asian Keeled Ratsnake or Western coachwhip

Hmm..
1. Angolan Python
2. Bredli Python
3. Speckled Racer
4. Northern Eyelash Boa
5. Mochino Retic
I could go on with snakes.
For lizards/monitors I'd probably have to say..
1. Storr's monitor
2. Red Ackie
3. Blue Tree Monitor
4. Armadillo Girdled Lizard
5. Arboreal Alligator Lizard

I had no idea there were dwarf monitors! I love the monitor attitude but have been hesistant as they require so much space. The ackies and storr's look perfect. Hooray for this thread feeding my hopeless herp addiction

My favorite part about threads like this is you learn about new unusual animals, for example, @minkness i've heard of abronias before but that blue/grey one is by far cooler than any i've seen before :p

One of those NERD mega tame Water Monitors
A BIG Northern Pine Snake
Sylphie
01-03-16, 03:28 AM
Well... that's the list not including what I already am having:
1. Some scalaless baby, preferable corn snake (not sure on this one)
2. Low end pied ball python (I don't like the high end white ones with only colors on head).
3. Leucistic texas/black rat snake
4. Anery russian rat snake!
5. Blue Kunashir japanese rat snake
Well, there would be a lot of other species, but having recently adult taiwanese beauty I now know that I can't have anything bigger than 6,5ft, so I can't think about getting indigo, boa constrictor, etc
Mad Max

I'd be happy with my Costa Rican Boa, a 20-year-old leucistic Sulcata tortoise, and some land in a nice place that never gets below 70°F. After that, I think I'd rather have dogs and peacocks than more reptiles.
Slithersaurus
01-03-16, 08:59 AM
Hmmm.... This is tough questions. I keep wanting to have everything!
1. Either Peach-throated monitor or very brightly colored Mangrove monitor
2. Frilled dragon
3. Hypo bull snake
4. Jungle carpet python
5. Calio cow sucker(Calico black ratsnake)
wish list that isnt possible.

The city zoo has a trio and their really fun to watch, while we're talking about abronias, here's a story, I live in Texas and there's a fairly large number of Texas Alligator Lizards, a type of abronia, when I was like 12 one of my friends and I caught one that measured at like 16 inches, it also had a cactus spine in his eye so we pulled it out and kept it for about a month while it "recovered" lol

1. Dendroaspis polylepis
2. Deinagkistrodon acutus
3. Dispholidus typus
4. Gonionotophis capensis
5. Boa constrictor
With how amazing and diverse your collection is Im so proud to actually have something from your want list in my collection.. That being Gonionotophis capensis which is one of my personal favorites in my collection.
What I will list as my wants here are the things Ill never be blat to have here due to local laws and restrictions. As everything else will end up in my collection at some point.
1. Atheris Haspida (hairy bush viper)
2. Atheris Squamigera (green bush viper)
3. Bothriechis schlegelii (eyelash viper (Christmas phase))
4. Trimeresurus Mangshanensis (mangshan viper)
5. Paleosuchus Palpebrosus (Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman)
Do we see a common trend here? I think I need to move somewhere Im allowed to keep vipers.

Haha...I think your list looks great! And yes--it looks like a move to a less restrictive area is in order. I've been fortunate in that I've always lived in places where it was either not regulated at all or there was a reasonable permit system in place.
My list isn't so much a want list (I currently have four of the five species I listed), but a list of species that I would keep if I was only allowed five. And speaking of Gonionotophis capensis, after fine tuning my husbandry of them for several years, they are now finally ready to breed. Fingers, paws, and spurs crossed! :)

Yea apparently Leopard gene after few generations make their appearance darker and darker so there is kind of a morph called jet black AMT. However they might brighten a little bit with aging but in general AMT have darker colors when they are getting older so this is a stunner! :)

Atheris hispida is an interesting choice. They are notoriously difficult to keep, but it can be done.

In no particular order
Peruvian BCC
CA BCI
Dumerils Boa
Merauke GTP
BRB
psychocircus

In a perfect world with significant experience and wealth:
-Asian water monitor
-Crocodile monitor or black throat monitor
-A high end Green tree python (maybe mite phase?)
-black mamba
-Green anaconda
Realistically with extra spending money:
-BCC
-Green tree python
-Argentine B&W Tegu/red tegu
-Yellow tail cribo
-Dwarf retic
1) A well trained, reasonably engaging and mostly harmonious group of either Chinese or American Alligators. They'd all know their names and line up for dinner every week.
2) Tuatara- I know nothing of their dispositions..... But it's a TUATARA.
3) Either an Indigo or a Black Headed Python.
4) A big ole water monitor with above average wits.
5) A snapper, preferably one like Tank, rare as that is.
I left out mambas, rattlers, cobras, saltwater crocs, etc. because that's just a bit much for me.

Most of you guys are way more realistic with your choices than I was, lol.
Ok ok, I will choose a bit more...realistically this time. Here are my down-to-earth, slightly more achievable choices:
Amazon Tree Boa
Indigo Snake
Satanic Leaf Tail Gecko
Giant Leachianus Gecko
Taiwanese Blue Beauty Snake

Wow, my list would probably change daily. But, I guess these would always be high on it.
1. Radiated tortoise
2. Boelen's python
3. Tuatara
4. High end amazon tree boa
5. Any Drymarchon. A mate for my couperi would probably make the most sense.
And a thousand others.

With a lot of money and space
1. Sundragon boa
2.almost any soft shell turtle
3.normal super dwarf retic ( not a lot of people seem to be breeding them and I don't like the morphs)
4.green tree python
5.Bush viper (might settle for a viper boa though
