Spent over $100 on enclosure supplies, she now has a fresh home appropriate for her size. this is much bigger than the box she was in at the pet store.

She needs a hide on both the hot and cool side.

I;ll probably need to make a hide. Its hard to imagine her fitting in the one I ordered which says a 3.5 ft ball python can fit in it.

Until her hides arrive you can make some. She needs a warm and cool hide so she doesn't have to sacrifice temperature regulation for security or vice versa. It can be as simple as a shoebox with an entry hole or a plastic plant pot, but give her something stat. Snakes are terribly stressed when they have nowhere to hide.
ETA: Do you have screen clips on that cover? Ball pythons are very strong and can easily shove a screen top off to escape.
Also what kind of chips are those?

Make sure you get a thermostat for your heater and a couple of hides. Then you'll have a better control of your temps and your snake will feel more secure. You're almost there A. :)

Chips are reptibark. I put a book on the screen to weigh it down.

You might try stopping buy your local Goodwill store. You can usually find bowls that make excellent hides very cheap. Just cut an appropriate sized entrance hole and turn it upside down. You can also find loads of plastic plants/vines which add a nice natural look and gives your snake more cover. Just a thought...

Get the clips ASAP. Years ago I tried securing a top with books and bungy cords. Bye bye BP :(.

I didn't know you lost a bp Ziggy....
But yes, heavy heavy weights like...20 lbs on each corner, clips, or even velcro.

Looks like you're on the right track. If you're on a strict budget, you can use just about anything to make a hide spot (empty butter container with a hole, an old shoe, etc.) and to serve as cage furniture (rocks and/or pieces of wood from outside) for enrichment. Also, if you're solely relying on an UTH, make sure that you monitor the ambient temperature in the enclosure. Unless the room is nicely heated, you may find that you will need some supplemental heat source to create the proper ambient temperature gradient.
Hides are one of the easiest things to make lol. Mine have mac and cheese, pepsi and toilet paper rolls for hides :)

It was over 20 years ago :).

More hide ideas... I take a spade drill bit to the bottom of the plastic dog food crock bowls from Walmart. A lot of my snakes really like hiding in these. The cat litter pans at the local Walmart are not an idea size, so I actually spring for those at petco just getting the cheapest ones. I just cut with knife and scissors a hole then use sandpaper to smooth it up, a lot less stinky than using a lighter and actually works better for me.

The one hide shes taken is a cereal box on the cool end. I'll put another one in shortly but want her to adjust to the presence of a hide at all first.

I set the cereal box on the warm side since she doesn't want to use a second cereal box right now. Soon her cave will come in the mail though .

Just wondering... where did you go to spend $100, at most pet stores all the necessary supplies would be less $70 including the tank. For future help, many reptile specialty stores are wayyy cheaper than petsmart or petco, I got a 20 gallon long with a lid for $30 when i checked petsmart it would have cost me like $70

Not sure where you live but the stores around here are out of this world lol.
And the only reptile special stores I would guess would be like in the bigger cities. Like Chicago in IL. But out here in the middle of corn field country, nope, expensive.
Not sure where they live but if they are in an area like mine they didn't do to bad lolol. I try to look online and see if the stores will match it. IF not I pay full price.
All we have are like the petco/petsmart stores. Alas we have to pay the price :)

Wow I can't even get them that cheap on craigslist where I live! Cheapest one I saw with a lid was $45, and it was pretty dirty. And here the reptile specialty stores tend to have way higher prices than the big box stores too. You sure you don't just have a really awesome local store? Around here, unless you're using tote bins for housing and/or getting used supplies, a suitable setup for a 3.5ft bp would definitely come to over $100. Different country, I know, but I didn't think there would be that much of a difference

Petco regularly has sales on tanks that are 1$ a gallon. So a 20 long with screen could be 30$.UTH would be about 25! And bedding between 16-25$ depending. A bowl is about 15-20$ and hides...for that size snake, start at 20. So, for a full set up you're looking at about 150$ on average.
Oh, amd that's before getting any kind of thermostat or hydrometer or any of that kind of stuff.
I just took advantage of the dollar per gallon sale and got a 40g breeder. I'm considering getting another one for my milk snake. It's just too good to pass up.

Once I get my house, I'll be picking 1 or 2 up at a time so I can work on customising them. 1 will be my female crestie 'sorority' tank for sure. And probably one to hold my boa while I work on his fully custom cage. And another for my carpet to grow in for a while till I do her custom cage lol. 40 gallon breeders are just so great for just about everything really. =)

I think it depends were you live, here in Texas pretty much everything is cheaper, I mean one example is cost of rent, NY or California will be way more expensive than where I live, also I guess stores will charge what people will pay.
