Lord Sebastian (A.k.a Lord Sauron for staring people down with his angry red eye) is an 8 year old 5ft+ Pituophis catenifer sayi with a long story. He has one black and one blood-red eye, lot of attitude but no bite so far. Supposed to be a temporary guest and i usually don't share pics of guests, but i am growing fond of him and his general awesomeness. I might make his stay permanent, let me know what you think of his lordship. :D

He looks positively evil! :D. Pits are awesome, and it's even better to take one in with a story. My vote goes to giving him his forever home! Great looking snake Tsubaki.

Yes that he does :D and i think he knows it. And i supposed that is true, i have had my fair share of snakes come through here temporarily but they've all been re-homed elsewhere. First time i'm this fond of one of my guests, some food for consideration.

Very nice Tsubaki. Those eyes are pretty badass. I love Pits too. Their faces, size, attitude, and simple husbandry make them great snakes to keep. He'll most likely calm down with the hissing after a few meals. If you keep him long enough I think he'll grow on you. It's nice that he has a story too. I like special critters :).

So true. There is an albino striped Cal King at the shelter that only comes out of her hide when I come into the room. I've grown pretty fond of her :o. There's nothing quite like a critter getting a second lease on life.

Yeah it's nice to have a critter with a story, and he is very cool. I just had to take him out of his tub because he soiled it, he is such a handful to hold :D

Haha maybe i will, and that is a funny reason to keep a snake if i ever heard one :D

I've never seen a snake with heterochromatic eyes! Very cool. He sounds like a fun guy. I would definitely have a lot of trouble letting go of him too.

I haven't really seen it before either, its very much a dr jekyll and mr hyde thing.. His right side with the red eye is very intense looking, while the left side looks a lot calmer. :D he's also a show off and lies middle front most visible 99% of the time. He's a fun guy so far, follows me around the room.

Thanks everyone, :D

Cool guy! I'd definitely keep a Pituophis if it just fell into my lap like that! haha

Mostly we get Ballpythons, Cornsnakes and Bearded dragons, other species than that is pretty rare, first bull ever. (tho he did need a lot of fixing up) Coolest snake (imo) to have been ' up for the taking' so far.

I think it's destiny :).

Destiny haha, alright :D

Really a pretty snake! But I can't help but laugh at his little face, reminds me of Grumpy Cat, looks like he is scowling rotfl!

Pits have some of the meanest looking faces. They just look mad all the time. But you can't judge a book by its cover.

Just an update on Sebastian, i can not say anything other than the original plan had always been for him to be re-homed, and i decided to stick to that plan. Even with this being one of the coolest rescues to have ever come through here, and having been amazing to work with.. I should not start keeping snakes i rescued, who also don't fit my plans/preferences, just because 'i can'.... I would never appreciate him to the fullest, and i noticed that very much in the short time he has been here. Once i got him fully healed and did not have to medicate him anymore, my interest faded as it simply is not my kind of snake. Good sign it was time to find him some place where he would be appreciated for how awesome he really is.

If i had not find him a guaranteed better home i would have never let him go. But when my colleague visited and fell absolutely in love with him.. Destiny happened. He is now living in a large display tank prominently in his snake room, and both snake (whose name now is Hyde), and the new owner seem very happy. Here are the last pics i took of him before he left for an amazing home! I'm trying to convince my colleague to join here so he can update about Hyde :)

I realise not everyone might agree with my decision, but i am convinced it was the best thing to do.

Tsu, that is a beautiful reptile. I think looking at his varying patterning and differing eye color, and overall coloration that he may fall into the chimera category genotypically. Sorry to see him go and i hope your friend get the chance to update us on his progress. he is a very handsome pit.

I would love to take him myself, haha! Glad he found a good home, and you're right in your decision. You shouldn't keep anything that's not really what you want, as like you said you won't enjoy it as much as you should. Thank you for posting his pics, and well, I hope that his new owner will join us shortly :)

Tsubaki

Thanks both! I hope he will join us on here, he is not much of a forum person though :)

The best decision is the one that makes you happy! At least you'll still be able to see him, eh? Beautiful boy, sorry to see him go from the forums, but he's in a good home now. :)

Thanks Bigsnakegirl, yes unlike most rescues i will be able to catch some updates about him now and then, and im sure he has a nice home :)

He's not here anymore :) and was not mine to begin with. He was a rescue that came in at the zoo i volunteer, i took him home over the holiday period because he required intensive care and monitoring. I was free to adopt him, but choose not to. (If i adopt all the rescues that come through, id need a waay bigger house) He deserves a home where he's fully appreciated, i shared him here because i was considering adopting him, and because he was very cool looking. But that wouldn't have been the best option for him. thanks for sharing your thoughts.

You did the right thing Tsubaki - you fulfilled what you saw was your duty in nursing him back to health and you've made sure he's gone to a good home.

It's much more than many would have done...

Thanks Danny, I'm sure a lot of people on here would do the same given the opportunity and funds!

I'd imagine it's really rewarding to rescue and turn an animal around like that. I'm getting a real buzz just raising a healthy young lizard and snake and seeing them really beginning to thrive.

It is a very rewarding experience :D and so is raising young animals into healthy adults!

He's awesome, we have a red tiger Kingsville female in the shop sometimes she'll tag, sometimes she won't but we love her and it will be a sad day when she's sold. I'd say keep him if you have the room :)
