Hello, i'm the happy owner of a few ball pythons and a burmese python. While i know that pine bedding is a no no due to the toxin carried by smell, how close is safe for snakes to get to a pine tree?

We currently have them in the same room about 6 foot apart though very much considering moving the snakes into another room over the christmas period.

As long as they don't come into direct contact with the tree, sap, needles, etc they should be fine. Just make sure to wash your hands thoroughly before handling the snakes if you've been in contact with the tree. A little sap shouldn't be fatal, but would still be a sticky mess, lol. The toxin in pine or cedar bedding isn't carried by the smell, it's contact with the oils in the material that's toxic to reptiles.

Thanks for the reply, i had moved them to there own room in the meantime. My vet is on holiday but replied to my email with pretty much the same information.

I just worry about my noodles, i want them to have good long lives.
