Hi! I have a juvenile king snake, I've had him for two months, he's shed twice. He's about 18 inches long.. what's the best way to tell how old he might be? Thanks for reading, sorry if this is in the wrong place..
It can be hard to tell a snake's age as they grow at different rates (even individuals of the same species). Depends on genetics, how often they are fed, etc.
Also, what subspecies of King? That can make a difference as some grow a bit larger than others.

Maybe the breeder could answer that question. Usually the place where you purchased him should have accurate records of the clutch, the hatching, parental genetics and info about the hatchlings age. That is if he was purchased from a breeder for the most part. If he came from Petco or Petsmart or any pet shop then the info you get may be very limited at best.

Buddy who gave him to me just told me King snake, but from what I've seen he's an eastern king snake. He was being fed one pinky, once a week, but I've been doing two every four or five days cause he was still looking for food afterwards. I just moved him up to one fuzzy, once a weeks, but it left quite the lump in him, I just wanted to make sure he's old enough to be on fuzzies

His previous owner was giving him away on facebook, I hadn't had a snake since I was a teenager so I jumped on it. He said he was only a couple months old, but wasn't specific. Had to get rid of him because his girlfriend was scared of the little guy.
