Hello, all! I'm new here :). I've owned various herps for many years, and recently acquired my first snake (a young hognose). I'm very happy to be a part of these forums, and am looking forward to learning lots from all of you!
I'm so excited! I've wanted a snake since I was very little, so this feels like it's been a long time coming!
Thanks for welcoming me to the group :).
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!

Welcome and congrats on your first snake! :) I wanted one since childhood too, so I know how it feels to finally have one after all years of waiting!

Thanks, everyone! I'm so excited :) The new hoggie has settled in very well! In fact, he's eating so well that I'm actually concerned about the possibility of over feeding him! I've heard that these snakes have a high metabolism, and feeding young snakes every 3 days is not uncommon, so I'll stick with that for now until I read otherwise. He's approx 4-5 months old, and weighed 17g when I got him. Does that seem very small? He appears very healthy: Alert, active, no loose skin, and good bowel movements.

Thanks again for the warm welcome!

Sounds good tobme. My 1st hoggie was only 12 grams when I got him from repticon. =)

Thank you! I was worried! Glad that's not abnormal. Seemed awfully tiny compared to my other animals, but it's all relative I guess! I'll keep weighing him periodically just to be sure though :) My profession (nurse) breeds anal-retentiveness lol!

You should only need to weigh him once a month or so. Sobling as he takes food regularly you are fine. =)
