So about two months ago my gtp Giuseppe went off food which is normal for males this time of year but he's a juvenile so not really normal for a young non-breeding age snake. He was getting thin so I took him to the vet (not the same one that killed my other gtp Sydney by jamming a metal rod 8 inches down his throat then handing me back a limp dead snake) but my normal vet who I normally take my reptiles to. Anyway, seems Giuseppe had some internal parasites and was given a medicine that I had to squirt down his throat. I've long gloated that we have a green tree that refuses to strike at us or bite us...ever....but I was still really hesitant about tempting fate by prying that mouth open every day for a week.....
But he let me and my son grab his head and carefully pry his jaws open and squirt the meds in. He moved around like crazy so it wasn't easy but never once got irritated with us. Never once bit in response.
However after a week of meds he still refused to eat until today he got a juicy rat pup instead of an adult mouse and he grabbed it quicker than ever. Normally he needs to be teased with his food. Not today, play time was over....
The camera sucks but here he is with a nice full belly
