Please help!

I was in the kitchen and my girlfriend shouted to me something was wrong with my snake. I ran into my room, and it looked like he had some water caught in his throat. She told me that he had started to frantically squirm and move his half-log and a decoration. I opened the tank to look at him, and I smelled the worst stink I have ever experienced. There was no poop in the tank, but a small amount of liquid that was a very dark brown and looked somewhat bloody. He seems ok now, but what happened? Could it happen again? Please help!!!

It could be anything from parasites to a serious illness. It sounds as if he had a seizure from the flailing you mentioned. Sezuires are serious business and should be looked at by a professional.

She said it was more of a frantic wiggling than a seizure, and it was his top 1/4. He's a spider ball if that helps any

Seizures are expressed in many different ways. I'm not saying that's what it was, but it's a concern. You can try to trear for dehydration if you want, but a vet visit would still be a good idea to make sure he is parasite and disease free.

I don't understand why you would connect hissing, or any of his other symptoms for that matter, with constipation. The "water in his throat" you described would be the fluid he regurgitated; the brown and red could be remnants of his last meal but could also be something much worse.

I do agree that it sounds as if he's had a seizure. Regardless of how much of his body was thrashing; seizures take many forms and do not always induce whole-body spasms. It would be wise to take him to a vet ASAP.
